Democratic presidential hopeful Gen. Wesley Clark said Sunday that his old boss Bill Clinton - not President Bush - deserved credit for forcing Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi to abandon his weapons of mass destruction programs, even though Gadhafi's turnaround came nearly three years after Clinton left office.

"It's a program of squeezing Libya that's gone on for more than a decade," Clark told a Derry, N.H., audience, according to the Concord Monitor. "The Clinton administration was very much involved with this."

In a slap at Bush, Clark said, it "shows that you don't need to use force to get your way in world affairs," adding that Prime Minister Tony Blair deserved credit for the Ghahafi breakthrough as well.

The former NATO commander said that Bush deserves to be "fired" for not doing more to prevent 9/11.

3. I heard him allude to the long process involved in this....
at the end of the NH event, I think, as he was on the way out....so I was waiting for a full comment.

What I heard him say at that event was that the process had been going on for 10 years and it was the type of policy the Bush Admin. had thrown out.......

Thank you, General Clark....

4. My disclaimer: Clark supporter
but regardless of primary outcomes, this man needs to be funded to stay in the race because no one else can do the image damage to the Shrub that Clark does so effectively on an almost daily basis.

Rove, et al, must droll over any prospect that Wes Clark would have to pack up his toys and go home.

Wes Clark. He will make an exceptional American President.

9. Faux 's spin
Al D'Mato was saying that no break through happened until Bush bombed the crap out of Iraq.

Irrergardless, not one shot was fired at Libya and the negotations worked.

Clark is right.

As long as there is dialogue there is hope.

10. Clark's intelligence and leadership make him the best candidate
Former President Clinton is still admired throughout the world. It is only in this myopic country, that he is not repected as he should be.

Wesley Clark is also one of the brightest individuals to offer his services as President to this country. If we don't realize this, it will be our loss, although it will also impact the whole world.

Wesley Clark's understanding of foreign affairs is crucial in today's world. His intelligence, leadership, and integrity will bring honor back to the office of President of the United States.

His compassion will bring back the respect of the world.

Please nominate this man.

11. Blair is doing Dems a big favor by removing a hobgoblin for the right.
Edited on Tue Dec-23-03 10:53 PM by AP
It makes it harder for the RW to exploit fear.

If a Dem wins in 2004, Blair's legacy is secured. If Bush wins, it's going to end in tears for Labour in 2006.

I suspect Blair will be working double shifts to remove every possible tool the RW can use to win in November.
