Richardson joins presidential race
Source: Associated Press

LOS ANGELES - New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson vowed to repair the "ravages" of the Bush administration Monday as he formally announced his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The former congressman and Cabinet secretary said his track record makes him the right person to lead the country through a pivotal time. He played up his experience to set him apart in the field with some more famous and better-funded rivals.

"Some are rock stars," said Richardson, who represented New Mexico in Congress and served as
President Clinton's energy secretary and ambassador to the United Nations. "I am not, but I have a proven record.

In Spanish, he said, "With pride, I hope to be the first Latino president of the United States."

1. Wow, it gets tougher on conservatives everyday
Where to direct their hateful venom.

They hate women - Hillary
They hate blacks - Barrack
they hate Latinos - Bill
they hate lawyers - John
they hate non-syncophant Generals - Wes (not a candidate, yet!)
they hate smart people - Al

Gosh it must be hard work trying to sort out all the hate

4. I'd love to see Richardson bump Hillary out of the "top tier"
Though I doubt it will happen. I like Obama, Edwards and Richardson of the announced candidates, Clark and Gore of the unannounced.

5. he is my Gov.
Richardson is my Gov and I adore him. He has done quite alot for my State and he is an experienced diplomat too. I will likely still vote for Hilary but I would really like to see Richardson in a top admin position of some sort after 2008.

6. Unlike the current resident, Governor Richardson
has an impressive resume and has actually done positive things FOR our country. I'd be proud to have him as my President, but I will have to wait for the general election because my State Primary (Mississippi) is virtually irrelevant.

7. i love richardson
and would vote for him if he is the nominee, but absolutely will not vote for hillary. i would have to vote for someone else (a libertarian) or write someone in (such as Gore).

10. As it has been said already...he's most qualified of all of 'em
He has experience running a state, and would probably be the most effective. I'd vote for him.

13. It doesn't sound like he's announced as many times as McCain has though...
I think I've heard some talk show hosts mention that he keeps "announcing" on many new shows that he appears on...

16. Ya Know
There's just something about this guy that emits confidence.

We have a political system designed not to allow the most qualified through. He just may get through. I'd vote for him.

Peace.

18. What's weird is I thought
he was already in the race, since he was a debater and all. Anywho...I like Richardson...I like what he said about how green NM is, and really as far as foreign relations, he actually has some experience. I could possibly get behind him.
