GSA chief to fight charge of Hatch Act violation, attorney says

~snip~ OSC’s report addresses a Jan. 26 meeting where a White House political official gave a PowerPoint presentation to GSA political appointees that included slides on congressional seats Republicans consider in play in 2008. Six witnesses said that after the briefing Doan said something like, “How can we help our candidates?”

OSC found that in the statement and an ensuing “political brainstorming session” Doan committed a serious breach of the Hatch Act by encouraging subordinates to assist the Republican Party. The act bars federal employees from partisan political activity while on the job.

The report will be officially released after it is sent to the White House next week. Doan has until tomorrow to respond. ~snip~

... In a May 30 letter to Special Counsel Scott Bloch, Nardotti said the publication of an apparent draft report shows the OSC leaked the document. In a May 25 letter, Bloch said GSA distributed the report to create a case to attack OSC. ~snip~
