1. I don't know much about baseball
and I know a lot of people don't like Steinbrenner much but there is a good side of him that most people don't know about.

Two years ago, when Katherine Harris was still Sec. of State in Florida, she tried to budget cut the Florida Folk Festival out of existance. This is one of the longest running music festivals in the US and that year was the 50th Anniversary of the Festival. Fortunately, the 'folkies' in Florida are a small but very loud group. Somehow Steinbrenner got wind of what was going on. Out of his own pocket he wrote the state a check for $70,000 no strings attached and helped save the festival.

So from me and all the other folkies in Florida, "Hey George, we hope you get well soon."

SARASOTA, Fla. -- New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner collapsed at a memorial service for football great Otto Graham on Saturday and was hospitalized.

Steinbrenner, 73, was taken by ambulance to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Paul Dezzi of the Sarasota County Fire Department said.

"He fainted. When we arrived, he was alert and oriented," Dezzi told the Associated Press. "He was very talkative in the ambulance. Right now, he's doing fine. There's nothing obvious from our side."

Steinbrenner was given oxygen, an electrocardiogram and intravenous fluids in the ambulance, Dezzi said.

7. Steinbrenner is a GREAT person
In Tampa he donates to a lot of groups. Many years ago, my sister was in a choir at her church and they were practicing for something and George brought them a dinner.

The Children's Home in Tampa has received a lot of money and so has the Hillsborough Sheriff's Department. There are at lease TWO black and whites with donated by the NY Yankees logo on the rear quarter panel.
