White House Pleads for More Time on Iraq
Source: AP

The White House appealed Tuesday for more patience on the war in Iraq as Democrats warned that time was running out and a prominent Republican declared that President Bush's strategy was not working.

In a floor speech Monday, Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., said the U.S. should reduce the military's role in Iraq and called on Bush to press other diplomatic and economic initiatives instead. Because of Lugar's position as the top Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee, his speech was a blow to the administration as it tries to shore up sagging political support for the unpopular war.

White House spokesman Tony Snow said Lugar was a thoughtful man and that his remarks came as no surprise.

"We've known that he's had reservations about the policy for some time," Snow said Tuesday.

But the spokesman later added: "We hope that members of the House and Senate will give the Baghdad security plan a chance to unfold."

11. Expect more change...
Soon it'll just be the green-zone security plan. Then the embassy defence scheme. Then just, um, Bush's gluteus protector.

4. I do not think Bush will carry on this war to the bitter end.
Don't forget that he does not want to be remembered as a loser. He will start withdrawing next year but still keep most of the troops in Iraq until the end of his term. Then it will be up to the next guy or girl to finish the job. Bush will claim that he did the hard work.

8. As Long As the Troops Stay
There is no loser! The same way that Bush Sr dumped Somalia into Clinton's lap when he left office, Jr will do the same for his successor. And just like George I, George II won't be blamed for what happens with Iraq!!!!!

12. How will he know he is a loser???
He won't know a thing until Cheney tells him, and that won't be until after 01/20/09. Even then he will most likely just tell him what he wants to hear, he won't know the diffeence.

Remember, Cheney not only controls his own staff but through spying aand intimidation, probably Bushs' staff as well.

5. IIRC, Karla Faye Tucker appealed for "more time" from Texas Gov. Bu$h.
Bush later ridiculed death row inmate Karla Faye Tucker, whining in mock exaggeration in an interview that Tucker begged, "Please don't kill me." Bu$h doesn't grant more time. His 152 executions as GovTex attest to that. Ironically, Bu$h now wants more time so that the killing can continue. Well, I say FUCK HIM!

7. Old 'Cut and Run' Lugar. Always surrendering to terrorists. He wants America to lose the war.
That was the White House response, right? What? They called him thoughtful and not a traitor? I wonder why?
