Car bomb kills 4 civilians near Baghdad's Green Zone

A car bomb went off near a government office close to heavily fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad on Monday, killing at least four civilians and wounding six others, an Interior Ministry source said.

"A car bomb parking near an office affiliated to the Iraqi Ministry of Housing in Karradat Mariam district, detonated in the afternoon," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The blast killed at least four people and wounded six others, the source said, citing first police report.

The explosion occurred just about 400 meters away from an entrance to the Green Zone, a vast area on the west bank of the Tigris River which houses the Iraqi government offices and foreign embassies, including the U.S. embassy.
