Bush turns to party roots for re-election
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-949103,00.html

PRESIDENT BUSH began the new year with an aggressive call-to-arms to the Republican grassroots yesterday, urging them to give him a second term in office and deriding his Democrat opponents as angry left-wingers.

In a fundraising letter to thousands of Republican supporters, Mr Bush said that the battle among Democrats to choose their presidential candidate would be won by the man who has energised his “party’s left wing with angry attacks”.

The e-mail letter from Mr Bush signals a surprisingly early presidential attack on the Democrats and previews one of the key themes of his re-election campaign: that Democrat contenders, and most notably Howard Dean, the front-runner, are out of touch with mainstream America and offer only criticism, while he will espouse an “optimistic, compassionate conservative philosophy”.

Unlike in recent elections, when candidates worked assiduously to court swing voters, Democrats and Republicans believe that the contest in November is more likely to be won by the party most successful at getting its core supporters to the voting booth. National polls suggest that the country remains evenly divided after the disputed 2000 election.

1. More fear-mongering
I wouldn't put it past him to characterize leftists as baby-eating monsters who want to rape your children. Of course, his core constitutency (the ones I've met) are so intolerant of any opionions but their own that they will swallow his lies hook, line, and sinker. Let Bush have his core group. We can win over the undecideds by exposing his lies and talking common sense.

3. The GOP fundamentalist core voters stayed home in 2000
I recall that about 3 or 4 million of them did not vote. There is a looming problem for us.

4. Many more GOP will stay home in 2004. Our real problem is BBV.
Really, any of them with an ounce of sense MUST be embarassed by Bush by now. How can they possibly muster up the will to bother to go vote for the Shrub again?

But Bush has his bases covered with Schwarzenegger in California and Jeb in Florida. I think it's BBV we really need to worry about now.

11. Not mention of BBV in the Times article
Which I'm afraid to say is to be expected from a Murdoch rag.

BBV is Black Box Voting. Here is a good website to start on.

5. Father Bush lost them it is said.I do not know if that is a fact.
It is why we should go back to our base and not be just bad Rep. I heard that over and over last time. Both Bush and Gore are to much alike so who cares which one wins.

7. Grass roots republicans......Would be those who believe in:
1)Smaller Federal Government?
bush* grew government by over 27%, the largest growth in government since saint ronnie.

2) Less intrusive Federal Government?
The Executive Branch has assumed more control over private citizens since the writing of the Constitution.

3)Strict Constitutional Governance?
bush* has dismantled more of our guaranteed constitutional rights since....ever!!!

4) States Rights?
The bush* government has repeatedly steamrolled over individual states whose voters and Representatives have decided issues for themselves that did not conflict with ANY of the powers delegated to the Federal government in the Constitution.

5) Fiscal Conservatism?
bush*, the guy that was going to run the country like a business has bankrupted the USA and saddled the next few generations with the payments that WILL come due. If the USA were a business, it would be in the same shape as EVERY business that bush* has gotten his greedy little hands on....BANKRUPT!!!

6)Lower Taxes?
End this erroneous bullshit talking point today! The TRUTH IS: bush* has RAISED TAXES on ALL AMERICANS!!! His much vaunted tax cuts are a LIE!! He has merely restructured the payments over a longer period of time with correspondingly higher interest rates! As bush* and the republicans drive this country DEEPER in DEBT, each citizen's individual liability for that debt INCREASES! Since bush* and the republicans have persistently lowered the tax liability for the top 1%, it is NO SECRET who he expects to pay these bills....The MIDDLE CLASS!

7) Strong Defense?
The US is mush weaker defensively than at ANY time since WW11. Our armies and national treasure has been depleted in a useless and avoidable war against a country that DID NOT AND COULD NOT THREATEN the USA!! There is NOTHING in the traditional conservative republican doctrine about spending billions of dollars and wasting American lives in order to liberate other countries.

bush* will need a compliant media and a spineless, cowardly, Democratic Party to sell his bullshit to the republican base again.
If the base republicans are paying attention, they should be PISSED!!!
