Protesters show up in force near Cheney home

By WHITNEY ROYSTER
Star-Tribune staff writer Sunday, August 12, 2007

WILSON -- Some 200 people gathered in a Wilson field Saturday afternoon for a "Peace Rally" to protest the Iraq war and send a message to Vice President Dick Cheney, who owns a home just up the road.

"We organized it because of the war in Iraq and what an injustice it has been," Walt Farmer, retired Air Force captain and registered Republican said. "The Vice President has received a pass in Jackson long enough. We want to let them know we don't approve of the war or how they play fast and loose with the Constitution."

Attending a rally first with speakers, including State Rep. Pete Jorgensen (D-Jackson), author Alexandra Fuller and musicians, the group then took to the county bike path where they marched 1.5 miles north to the entrance of the exclusive Teton Pines Country Club, where Cheney lives when he is in Wyoming.

A 10-foot tall effigy of Cheney, with a fishing pole in one hand and a spouting oil well in the other, was brought on the route. Rally-goers toppled the statute as a symbolic gesture of their disapproval of the vice president.

6. I think the deal is
that it's the most exclusive property in the State. And we all know how the carpetbagging sonofabitch illegally changed his residency from Texas to Wyoming after the deadline in 2000. So he had to buy in a hurry and couldn't have the castle built in time, complete with medieval torture dungeons.

8. Nope...they live there....
Even here in li'l ol' Athens GA. My bosses (who are repubs but who are also very good people) live at the country club. ''He'' is a golf nut. ''She'' is a little more cynical about it and thinks the expense is a bit much. I'm not sure how it works. I think it's like a big-time homeowners association, with powerful covenants and so on. They own the property outright, but there are still major restrictions.

27. golf club communities
I'll bet that's what it is. I know a developer of them and what they do is to get some name golf course designer to come in and design the course. Then they build exclusive homes around the course.

Now, I'll tell you a funny story about these communities. Somehow, through some crazy scheme with the gov't and the banks, Katrina survivors are moving into homes that have undergone bankruptcy. Anyway, one of the bankrupt homes in a golf community became the residence of some displaced Katrina survivors. This only happened a few months ago. You should have heard the screams from the elite when they moved in, LOL. Oh man.

Long story short, wouldn't you just love it if something similar happened to Cheney?

It would work out very well for them, wouldn't it?

Cher

13. displeased that Cheney would disrupt other people's time in the outdoors with his helicopters flying
Jennifer Love of Jackson said she came to the rally because she's tired of the war.

"I feel like the administration has just turned their head and continued to take vacations," she said. Cheney typically spends the month-long August recess in Jackson Hole. Love and others said they were displeased that Cheney would disrupt other people's time in the outdoors with his helicopters flying overhead.

In the last week, several teams of helicopters have been seen flying in formation over areas of Jackson Hole.

Jeff Brummer and Kate Walker were visiting their son in Wilson and decided to come to the rally.

"We have a long history of anti-war activism so it seemed like the right thing to do," Brummer, of Boston, said. "We're here in particular because I think Dick Cheney is a criminal in virtually everything he's touched or had involvement in, whether it's the war or economy or civil liberties."

28. Vice President Cheney Bites The Ambassador From Liechtenstein
Vice President Cheney Bites The Ambassador From Liechtenstein

Washington, D.C. - In a highly charged confrontation that is sending shock-waves around the world, an enraged Dick Cheney bit the ambassador of Liechtenstein on the shoulder during a state dinner at the White house. Apparently, Cheney was chewing on a prime rib bone and glanced up to see the ambassador from Liechtenstein staring at him. For some reason, this upset Cheney who bared his teeth, snarled and then lunged at the startled ambassador.

Like a possessed pit bull terrier, Cheney sank his teeth into the ambassador and refused to let go. As stunned dignitaries looked on, Cheney had to be forcibly pulled off by his secret service detail. Immediately after the incident, an aide to the vice president retrieved Cheney's false teeth from the ambassador's shoulder. The ambassador was then taken to the hospital where he received 12 stitches and a tetanus shot.

Later that same evening, Cheney's wife, Lynne, said to reporters "Two things about Dick, never look him in the eyes when he is chewing on a bone and don't ever cross him once he's made up his mind. He'll crush you like a June bug."

29. Vice President Cheney Kills Innocent Man In Fit Of Rage
Edited on Sun Aug-12-07 10:16 AM by dragon82a
Vice President Cheney Kills Innocent Man In Fit Of Rage

Lynchburg, Virginia - Dick Cheney was at the center of a confrontation at a local steakhouse late Wednesday evening that resulted in the death of one man. Eyewitnesses and employees of the restaurant report that the vice president was enjoying a quiet night out with his close friend, the late Jerry Falwell (whose undead presence, now wears an authentic Ring Wraith robe bought from the "Lord of The Rings" costume preservation dept.) when he overheard a diner at a nearby table remark that "Cocker Spaniels were not as smart as Irish Setters."

For some reason this infuriated Cheney who rose to his feet while unleashing a torrent of obscene comments which seemed mostly to pertain to the superiority of Cocker Spaniels over any other breed, especially Irish Setters. He then grabbed a bottle of 1961 Chateau Latour Pauillac from the table and threw it at the startled diner. Unfortunately, the vice president had finished most of the bottle and his aim was off. The 1961 Chateau Latour Pauillac flew wide of its target and struck another restaurant patron in the head, splitting his skull and instantly killing him.

Seeing what he had done, Cheney muttered "Oh, shit!" He then reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a piece of paper that appeared to have the presidential insignia on it. Waving the paper in front of Falwell, he said, "Lucky I've got this, all purpose past, present and future pardon. My get out of jail card. Don't know what I'd do without it."

Cheney then calmly sat down, ordered another bottle of wine and proceeded to finish his meal, a medium rare porterhouse steak with cottage fries.

30. Cheney Spends Vacation Clubbing Baby Seals
Cheney Spends Vacation Clubbing Baby Seals

Miramichi, New Brunswick - Vice President Cheney, while vacationing in the picturesque Canadian community of Miramichi, decided he could use some relaxing recreation so he joined a group of local hunters on a outing to harvest the pelts of baby seals.

Using a club bearing the vice presidential seal, Cheney took to the task with relish and, in the course of the afternoon, personally clubbed to death 14 baby seals. In one particularly impressive display of clubbing skill, the vice president, with a single swing of his club, dispatched a mother harp seal that was attempting to protect her young pup. Then, with another swing of his club, he knocked the pup unconscious whereupon its pelt was removed.

Obviously pleased with his performance, a blood-stained Cheney joined the other hunters in the time-honored tradition of eating the liver of their prey as a sign of their prowess. Said Cheney, "Eating raw liver from a freshly clubbed baby seal whose heart is still beating is one of the greatest joys in the world. It just doesn't get any better than this."

The vice president is planning to turn this into an annual event and next year will take his wife and daughters along so they can make it a family affair.

55. Washington D.C-Vice President Cheney Begins Remodeling White House.
Edited on Sun Aug-12-07 09:36 PM by dragon82a
Washington D.C-Vice President Cheney Begins Remodeling White House.

A big fan of fantasy films and tasteful redecoration, President Cheney has enlisted Martha Stewart to do over the white house. The goal is to make it a one-to-one scale replica of Sauron’s Barad-Dur from the film "Lord Of The Rings"

“I feel that the White House should reflect the inner qualities of it’s true ruler” proclaimed Cheney as he dined on some some apple pie and ice cream “Besides it will be a great tourist attraction for the kids, now that Harry Potter is being sent to Gitmo –I never did trust that little git.” Snarled Cheney, stroking a glittering ring on his finger.

The Secret Service has been slated for replacement by Halliburton Uruk-hai, to serve as the Vice President’s personal guard. Vice President Cheney has also issued a directive, henceforth he will be addressed as Dark Lord, and only in hushed, fearful whispers.

And Dave Freudenthal, a Democrat, is the governor.

This is how the 50-state strategy works - don't let the Republicans take any turf for granted, not even their hometowns.
