Michigan voters prefer Gore, Thompson
Source: Detroit News

The crowded field of presidential hopefuls isn't crowded enough to suit Michigan voters, who prefer two unannounced candidates for the Republican and Democratic nominations, a new Detroit News/WXYZ-TV poll shows.

Former Tennessee Senator and TV star Fred Thompson would lead the GOP pack and former Vice President Al Gore would top the Democratic slate should they decide to run, according to a statewide survey of 400 likely Republican and 400 likely Democratic primary voters in Michigan conducted last Wednesday through Monday by EPIC/MRA of Lansing.

When his name is included in the field, Gore gets 36 percent support compared to 32 percent for New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, 16 percent for Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and 8 percent for former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, the poll shows. When voters stick to announced candidates only, it's Clinton with 45 percent, Obama at 26 percent and Edwards at 16 percent.

Run,Al, run! First he wins the New Hampshire poll and now Michigan. I know there are more states where he would win hands down. It's time to take your rightful place as president, Mr. Gore. You won once, you can do it again.

11. Not surprising...
The thugs have royally fucked up and the reigning Dems have often enabled the thugs.

I'm surprised they don't go for Kucinich, though...

Let's get him on the ballot!

Gore would win in a landslide. Why? Because he's the most able person
to run this country!

4. Unfortunately WUOM, the local NPR station reported on this poll this morning and said
"Hillary Clinton leads among Democratic Candidates" and completely omited Gore from the story, presumably because he isn't yet a "candidate"?:grr:

6. WDTW did the same thing (our local AAR affiliate)
Edited on Wed Aug-15-07 01:13 PM by SharonRB
I was really pissed that they left out the most important part of the story. In fact, even on WXYZ news this morning on TV, who had reported the whole story last night, they left out the part about Gore.

9. I'll bet they were just doing a "rip and read" off the AP wire. I'll bet anything AP is to blame if
both an AAR and NPR affiliate reported the same story the same way.

13. This article might make you feel better

Maybe it's an inconvenient truth or just an odd fact of human nature, but there it is: The Democrats are pining for Al Gore. The Republicans are breathing heavily for Fred Thompson.
Allure of Gore, Thompson
As Charlie Cain and Mark Hornbeck reported this week, Democratic would-be voters cheerfully support Hillary Rodham Clinton (45 percent) and Barack Obama (26 percent), until Al Gore's name -- and globally warming presence -- is slipped onto that list.
At that point, Gore emerges as a close but clear front-runner with 36 percent, chipping away at Clinton (down to 32 percent) and Obama (16 percent).

12. Taegan Goddard omitted Gore too

he replied "Gore is not running" when asked why he omitted him. Yet he
shows Thompson as leading, although Thompson hasn't declared yet.

What a bunch of BS.
