Republican Giuliani: "Leave my family alone"
Source: Reuters

DERBY, New Hampshire (Reuters) - Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani, whose strained relations with his children have drawn unwelcome attention in the race for U.S. president, asked on Thursday that voters "leave my family alone."

The former mayor of New York conceded there were "complexities" among his relatives but said any troubled relationships were irrelevant to his performance in public life.

"I love my family very, very much, and I would do anything for them," he said at a town hall meeting. "The best thing I can say is, kind of, to leave my family alone, you know, just like I'll leave your family alone.

"If you want to judge me or I want to judge you, we'll judge each other on our public performance. I don't know your private life. You don't know my private life," he said.

2. Like he'll leave our families alone? Like bush** has. Raised our taxes and
taken the food out of our families mouths. Ruined the economy and made everything from a can of soup to a roll of toilet paper cost over a dollar? Killed the job market and sent our families into bankruptcy?

Like Edwards said, Rudy is george without brains.

7. Yes, Mr. Giuliani.
Like Amadou Dialo was left alone?

Like, the emergency workers and their health problems were left alone?

Like the fire department radios were left alone?

Somehow, I kinda think whether or not a presidential candidate has an utterly dysfunctional family relationship is germane, especially as regards his relationship the the other two parts of the government and the American people.

You sought the spotlight, sir. Now, deal.

Don't Guiliani's kids from his second marriage want him to leave them alone?

You would do anything for your family? Why not ask Donna Hanover about that - I would bet what she wanted you to do for the family was remain faithful.

Sorry, buddy, your party has been making such a bfd over values and character and their importance in a candidate, why back off now?

He essentially told his then wife and his children to go take a hike when he moved Judi! into the basement of Gracie Manor.

Any man that has hurt his family by thinking through his little head, deserves everything that comes at him.

25. That's what I was about to say!
Now, the positive point to take is that there are many different kinds of families these days, and the "nuclear" version is not exclusive or even necessarily the best. But Republican voters tend not to think that.

So, the best response is "I'm glad Mr. Giuliani has a much broader definition of family than most Republican primary voters. He's on the right track, and should start persuading his party base that families are not monolithic in form."

Your sexual peccadillos, affairs and friendships with criminals are ALL fair game. Republicans mistakenly pride themselves on owning the moral high ground, so when a crooked GOP, family abandoning, adulterer like you comes along your family like IS most certainly "fair game".

Go shit in your hat, Rudy! :grr:

As much as I agree with what he says in principle, it's tough to take Republicans seriously when they say that their personal lives don't matter; particularly after pursuing Clinton the way they did. If Rudy had been in national politics at the time, I'm sure he would have been a lead player in the witch-hunt.

"I don't know your private life. You don't know my private life".

30. We already know your private life enough to want to recoil in disgust, dear rudy.
Edited on Thu Aug-16-07 08:16 PM by calimary
And let's not forget, sir, that it was YOUR guys who decided that a dissenter's WIFE was "fair game." Even when that dissenter's wife was a private person, not front-row-center, not an active player, a civilian, a non-combatant, if you will. But YOUR pals dragged her in, anyway, ruined her career, ruined her espionage network that took her some 20 years to build, endangered her life and possibly also her children's lives, probably got a lot of people in very dangerous places killed because their identities became known, and ruined our efforts to track those famous WMDs everybody on your end had such hard-ons about.

YOUR side started us down that sordid road. YOUR side made that shit fitting and proper, and put that negative, vindictive, mean-spirited shit on the map. And now you want to complain because the kids you offended and hurt (who came out in public with their hesitation about your campaign), the way you publicly screwed your ex-wife (THEIR MOTHER), and the home-wrecking strumpet whom you parade around on your arm like an Anna-Nicole mink stole, are in the public domain? rudy, honey, FAIR GAME IS FAIR GAME. You should have talked to kkkarl rove and dick cheney about this a few years back, sweetheart.

Tough tooties, rudy. All's fair in love, war, and political campaigning.

:nopity:

Isn't it funny how they can dish it out but can't take it? They think nothing about doing it to everybody else they're against. But when the tables are turned and they get a taste of their own medicine, they scream like stuck pigs and whine like spoiled three-year-olds. And, um, btw, this from the same camp as those who bragged and boasted and swaggered all over Christendom a few years ago declaring that "the adults are back in charge."

DAMN but these people disgust me. :puke:

55. Kerry's factual information about Mary Cheney was disgusting? How?
All he said is that she was a lesbian, pointing out that Cheney's policies were hypocritical.

Was he lying or soemthing?

Why is making a 100% factual statement disgusting?

You seem to be mixing up the media slurs, insults and slanders against Chelsea with Kerry's 100% factual statement about Cheney's daughter.

Mary, who is lesbian, did not choose her sexual orientation, and so was illustrating that the administration was being deeply hypocritical and unfair not only to strangers who happened to have been born gay and lesbian, but also to "their own" (who were born gay and lesbian). And Mary Cheney was out of the closet then and had been since before 2000.

>>SCHIEFFER: Senator Kerry?

KERRY: We're all God's children, Bob. And I think if you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian, she would tell you that she's being who she was, she's being who she was born as. <<

Totally not disgusting. A statement of fact.
