The US says it wants to share information with allies

A recent increase of US security alerts was a result of specific threats and extensive risk analysis, the US homeland security chief has said.

Tom Ridge told the BBC these threats had been behind fears of a "dirty bomb" in some US states and the cancellation of European flights into the US.

Increasing security is a deterrent, Mr Ridge told the Newsnight programme.

However, there was a balance to be kept between security and citizens' rights he said, otherwise "terrorists win".

4. My experience as an analyst....

...leads me to the finding that the increasing communications concerning bogus threats have not materialized in even the recovery of a scintilla of evidence that they were real. However, these alerts and false alarms are substantial evidence that the regime has a political need for such a threat to exist. (An aside on edit: Kevin Phillips discussed Machiavelli's The Prince as a sort of bush dynasty text for government. The text really is The Discourses in which the need for external threats to the country and the extensive machinations related to that threat are essential for domestic political success.)

The government is pretending that they are doing something about a threat, which if substantial, they could do little to prevent. So much of our capital infrastructive and cultural featues are hopelessly exposed. By giving the appearance of working diligently to prevent yesterday's threat (911 which it failed to do), the people are being properly indoctrinated for the next (hoped for?)failure. Imagine the future propaganda mill in retrospect. Yes, true we had a second terrorist incident, but look at all the (non) terrorist incidents that we prevented. Now that we've had a real terrorist event occur, we know that they are real and not government fabrications allowed to occur for policy reasons.
