Bush war advisors: unfound Iraqi weapons matter little

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20040109/pl_afp/us_iraq_weapons_defense_040109212053

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Two of President George W. Bush (news - web sites)'s military advisors said that the US inability to find illegal weapons in Iraq (news - web sites) means little.

snip

"I don't think that you can draw any conclusion from the fact that the stockpiles were not found," Pentagon (news - web sites) advisor Richard Perle said.

snip

"If others are going to take the view that, because these weapons weren't found, nothing that the United States says can be trusted -- there's not much we can do about that," he said. "It would be a foolish conclusion to draw."

snip

Perle and Frum's book, "An End to Evil," promotes the so-called neo-conservative use of military force to pacify the world.

snip

"Sometimes the right answer, when a person has a grievance against you, is to say: 'You're completely mistaken; that grievance comes out of a completely wrong way of looking at the world and you're just going to have to get over it'," Frum said.

"We're not going to change."

2. These two jokers
Edited on Fri Jan-09-04 09:40 PM by Stevie D
have been out humping their new book on everything from FOX to NPR.

Everything they promote has been discredited. And I mean everything.

I'm already tired of their little dog and pony show, but it will be in the media for weeks to come.

I'm sure you mean...
after a immediate conversion from their wicked ways and a long healthy life. I understand your sentiment as many do here on DU..but ya gotta be careful what you post in this forum, some might consider your statement a threat. People disappear without a trace and are held in secret without trials these days. We wouldn't want that to happen to you my friend.

4. On behalf of Canada
please accept our apologies for exporting David Frum....The only conclusion that we can reach for not finding WMD is; that there were no WMD. Perle and Frum are not only ridiculous, but even more arrogant than I thought possible. Oh, ya...since you've got Frum, we're not taking him back.

6. One of the BIG ways neocons have miscalculated:
The military will turn on them. The US Army will not become the Imperial Army. Neocons know little of the troops in the line, because so few of them have served. Our troops will be loyal to the people and not to the neocons.

to them. I think BeelzeBush let the cat out of the bag last summer (I think it was in July) remember when the Niger uranium incident was really becoming big news in England? Blair was hot 'n' heavy denying it, and then the rumor made its way west across the Atlantic.

Bush was getting ready to go to Africa, so he probably didn't have a lot of time to think or rehearse. Some upstart reporter asked him if his '16 words' were a lie. His comment: "It really doesn't matter because we got Saddam out".

His statement told me everything I wanted to know. What Bush really meant was, "The end justifies the means". It didn't really matter what we told you, because we had an AGENDA.

But it does matter, in the end.

8. So that's who those two sick fucks were I heard on NPR
I knew one of them was Perle. They were dissing the CIA, and how the intell from the CIA is just all wrong, but we all KNOW the intell from ALL sources was spun out through the Office of Special Plans in the DOD, which was heaDED UP BY Douglas Feith, another one of the sick neo-con fucks !!

Frum's quote is basically saying logical reason is completely mistaken because you are looking at the world wrong?? What kind of schizophrenic claptrap is that?

These people should be in a straitjackets.

that's a fact. They're also making a great deal of money peddling their delusional fantasy. In the end with this type,it's all about the money. They make money, and too many people continue to die needlessly. Although, it's an even scary thought that they really believe it all.

15. They spoke at AEI today (C-Span)
I know it's not Halloween, but I watched it anyway.

They called themselves "pragmatists" and "realists", -- although I think "barking mad" is more appropriate -- and those who objected to them out of touch with reality or "idealists". They said it's all just "common sense." They said CIA intelligence was always unreliable -- that it always underestimates risks (?). They said instead of a 9/11 commission asking if the events could have been prevented, they should be looking at the wider context of the events (as far as I could understand, people who hate us who are allowed to live).

Internationally, they said, the US should not only be militarily going after those who would attack us, but people who "mistreat their own people," i.e. other regimes in the Muslim world. They went on to say that Iran must be dealt with, as Syria as well, and notion of Gaddafi being allowed to remain in power in spite of the recent developments was outrageous.

Domestically, the government needs to change. First step -- national ID cards -- if you're not up to anything, you have nothing to worry about. etc etc

When asked if France had been right after all about the WMD, they replied that France was doing wrong, deliberately setting Europe against the US.

Sounds like these guys did a lot of bad acid....

18. Warmongers ...
Warmongers ... that is what these two chickenhawks, Perle and Frum are ...

I saw them both on Charlie Rose Wednesday and today on CSPAN. They are of the same delusional mind set as the Nazi leadership - that is that war is the solution to all difficult international problems. They are derisive and condesending towards diplomacy and treaty. The fact that they heavily influence Bush is an impending catastrophe for the US ... and the world.

Most revolting about these two, of course, is that they sit in expensive leather chairs in oak paneled offices and theorize about foreign policy. Neither of them have ever suffered the slightest real discomfort in their entire lives; neither of them have ever smelled the violent death of other human beings ... yet they so smugly and conceitedly urge that thousands of other people kill and be killed for their "philosophy".

Perle and Frum actually make me inclined to believe in evil ... simple, pure murderous evil ... bin Laden would find himself in collegian company with these two pieces of ... soft, white ... dirt.

36. It's also interesting how much free airtime
this pair gets to hawk their crap. Even more amazing, is not one single interviewer will just stop and ask them whether or not they are out of their friggin' minds.

Yet, they continue to act as if they are speaking directly for the pResident? They speak has if they are the ones making the decisions and no one else has any choice in the matter. This is just the way it is going to be and of course Bu$hler is more than happy to let them.

23. These operators have a suspicious agenda
...Perle spends a lot of time in Western Europe (for which he superficially expresses contempt) and then comes to the States to conduct policy campaigns detrimental to the national interests of our nation. What does that tell you?

The FBI should have a tail on the man 24/7. His phones should be tapped. His premises bugged, etc. Is he just a greedy crook with severe ethical problems? I think it is more than that.

Unless the administration is willing to do a mea culpa saying they lied about WMDs they are in effect saying we didn't find these weapons because they are probably in the hands of Al Quaida, Iraqi insurgents or some other terrorist group.

Sorry Neo-cons you can't have it both ways.

They need to be locked up and kept away from the rest of us, before they can inflict more damage. Anybody who has ever had any delusions of Bush and his gang being anything but vicious, bloodthirsty tyrants need only listen to them, to see why we need to get them out of power.

They will happily engage the whole world in war and destruction to further their ends. They are dangerous, rabid savages, and they need to be ousted from power asap.

31. I missed the memo: The US is part of Europe now?
"What troubles us is a pretty persistent French policy of trying to weaken and marginalize the United States within Europe," Perle said.

"All we ask from France is that, in the construction of Europe, Europe think of itself as a partner with the United States in the protection of Western civilization. That's not a lot to ask."

34. Frum didn't LEAVE the White House he got FIRED for his wife's e-mail
Frum, who left the White House in 2003, was as unswerving as Bush himself.

"Sometimes the right answer, when a person has a grievance against you, is to say: 'You're completely mistaken; that grievance comes out of a completely wrong way of looking at the world and you're just going to have to get over it'," Frum said.

"We're not going to change."

Please. His wife sent out an e-mail after the SOTU speech in which "Axis of Evil" was first unveiled (they chose North Korea so it wouldn't be ALL Islmic nations) and his wife sent out an e-mail to friends bragging (very understandable) on her husband. The e-mail got back to someone at the White House and he was fired within a week. She violated to #1 cardinal rule of W&Co. NO ONE takes credit for ANYTHING other than W this is part of the campaign to portray him as the LEADER and decision maker, no one really believes it.
