(Giuliani) Tryst Fund 'Sickens' Ex-Official
Source: NY Post

December 2, 2007 -- A former Giuliani administration official says he's "sick" over reports that his little-known agency was used to hide taxpayer money that funded police escorts during the ex-mayor's romantic rendezvous in the Hamptons.

"The cover-up of this and the explanations for it have been so disingenuous," said Brendan Sexton, who chaired the Procurement Policy Board in 2000. The panel was charged $29,757 for travel bills racked up by then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani's security detail as he hung out with then-girlfriend Judith Nathan on Long Island.

"He didn't want anybody to know what he was doing. That's the truth. I don't care about his personal life - it's not shocking to me that he wanted to visit his girlfriend," added Sexton, a Democrat who served as sanitation commissioner under Ed Koch.

"The part that's disturbing to me is that my organization or any government organization could be used to conceal from the public how their money was being spent."

Apparently the Post has decided it can't just ignore the story and hope it goes away...

1. Well I certainly understand the "Procurement" part, but where
does "Policy" fit into this? This guy was made a pimp and he didn't even get fancy clothes or a pimpmobile.

11. It is to be the mantra from now until November 2008.
In the next 11 months I hope to see AT LEAST 11 major scandals. It looks like Rudy will have December.

Repub Culture of Corruption runs deep.

3. A possible alternate explanation
The Post, as a money-losing rightwing propaganda organ, isn't likely to trash Rudi unless there is some strategy behind it. Noting here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x3781801
that Mr. Ghoul's support is mostly in the Northeast and West Coast, could it be that the repub insiders are figuring he would lose in the general (NE and WC are going Dem regardless, so Rudi's support among repubs there will be a waste) and are giving him the heave-ho. Of course, Rudi wouldn't be the type to leave "for the good of the party", so perhaps he's being pushed overboard.

Just a theory.

15. I've been thinking that, too
couple that with the rise in the polls of Hucksterbee, and they're trying to prepare us for direct rule by the religious right, with their own baptist preacher in charge!

17. Um, somehow she doesn't strike me as the caring compassionate type.
Don't think she will take kindly to her alpha male losing status. Rudi better start working on number 4, is my guess.

She was riding his coattails, and if his coattails get full of mud, she is jumping off...FAST!!!

7. keep hammering
people should keep shouting to Giuliani.

"Hey, how's your girlfriend? Did she get home safe yesterday? Were the taxpayer chaffeurs and bodyguards adequate?"

Keep repeating, ad nauseum. Make him HAVE to address it.

8. They burned Hevesi at the stake for driving his sick wife to the doctor
Why isn't anyone pointing out that the Shag Fund was THEFT from the city money?
From a Mayor that put the city budget in the red first time in 18 years? It was OUR money - not his!

He actually paid the money back, won reelection and then was forced to step down.

22. I agree 100%. If hevesi was forced to resign after repaying money, and being duly elected by those
who knew his crime...the Giuliani should be in a striped suit, behind bars.

10. But there's an R after his name and they talked about Jeeesuss
at the Repug debate. I'm sure he's a good family values kind of guy and has probably asked God for forgiveness. He's probably joined Ted Haggard in rehab too. I'm sure it's all fine now.

23. Well, it does no good unless the msm gets involved in
this situation. Just like the jeff cannon situation back several years and the false name and all the visits made to the white house when there was no press briefing. Just whom was this man there to see? Or provide a service too? Hell, I am of the mind set unless it does not involve Clinton's cock there is no reporting.
