White House Threatens to Veto Energy Legislation

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House on Monday threatened to veto legislation pending in the U.S. House of Representatives that would require the first big increase in three decades in the country's automobile fuel efficiency.

Congressional Democrats have hammered out a complicated deal that could result in a 40 percent boost in fuel efficiency standards by 2020.

The White House said it opposed provisions expected to be included in the bill that would require utilities to get 15 percent of their electricity from renewable sources by 2020, and raise taxes on oil and natural gas companies.

"It appears Congress may intend to produce a bill the President cannot sign," top White House economic advisor Allan Hubbard said in a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

2. I called it!!!! The car manufacturers only publically supported it because they had a pocket veto.
So now they can look all noble saying it's Bushes fault.

4. Good. Fucknutz should be forced to do just that.
This bill, with its pathetic half hearted measures, was crap anyhow. Bush should be forced to issue veto after veto after veto after veto. The people need to understand where the problem is despite the False Noise telling them the usual bullshit. Bush throwing hissy fits is difficult to hide.

6. Go figure
Iraq is atop $30 TRILLION worth of oil and it will cost somewhere between 3 and 6 trillion to get control of it. Let's not think of the almost 4,000 American lives and probably one million+ Iraq lives, so far, to get control of it. So, why would you want to increase mileage on cars? You want to decrease the mileage to sell more gasoline. Build those monster SUVs, build those muscle cars. Let's use some of this oil!

An incentive to get energy from renewable sources? From this administration? Give me a fucking break. Raise taxes on oil and natural gas? Laughable!
Until these people are out of office, there will never be any incentive to reduce emissions or to help the earth to survive ever! Apparently they have another planet that they can go to that the rest of us poor souls are not aware of.

The "White House" has become a four letter word to everyone in the world. I have to laugh from hysteria every time I hear somebody mentions the White House in a manner that is supposed to lend some credence to a statement. The whole world knows that, if it weren't so deadly, this white house is a fucking joke.

The president has become irrelevant in any possible way. He is a known liar and buffoon.
Cheney has become, and rightly so, a symbol of pure evil.

The entire administration is a fucking joke in a dramatic comedy.

I just read this and another post that I have just written and I realize that I have gone on a rant and have somewhat strayed from the subject. It is just that I am so god damned outraged over all this shit that is going on that I am absolutely beside myself and am beginning to lose control.
I was once a mild mannered Catholic boy that, along with all other Catholic boys, was confused about sex and any other meaning of life and not prone to rant. That has changed. Oh, by the way I am not in the same league of Larry Craig. In my case the nuns used to spend a lot of time in the boys rest room and some of us were invited into the "nunnery" after class. Oh shit, there I go again. Stop it!

In all seriousness, this is a red-herring. Look beyond this little headline and you will find the real story. Just look.
