On Iran, Bush faces questions of what he knew when
Source: reuters

"I was made aware of the NIE last week," Bush replied.

But it was his next remark that drew attention from Democrats, the news media and intelligence experts: "In August, I think it was (U.S. intelligence chief) Mike McConnell came in and said, 'We have some new information.' He didn't tell me what the information was."

...

On Tuesday, some former intelligence officers said Bush and other top White House officials were probably briefed about the intelligence findings long before the NIE was published.

"I can't imagine that McConnell ... would tell the president about this and not tell him what the information actually said," remarked Flynt Leverett, a former member of Bush's National Security Council.

"I think they certainly played fast and loose with the facts," he said in an interview with CNN.

...

"The president and his senior national security people get daily briefings, and the topics of those briefings are selected with an eye toward what is considered to be of most interest to current policy questions," said former senior intelligence analyst Paul Pillar.

2. If he didn't "tell you" what the evidence was, did he hand you a piece of paper letting you know?
I know he's stupid, but is he so stupid that he wouldn't ask what the evidence was?

14. iran's not going to negotiate anything
why should they.

They have their popcorn and are watching Bush's lies FINALLY implode in his face in Tehran.

Come to think of it, I'm enjoying this. It seems this is the story that is FINALLY destroying whatever little shred of credibility he had left. The lie is obvious. The regular American people see it...that's why the Republicans are in full damage control mode.

They've been hit...they're weak and retreating.

KEEP ADVANCING!

LIAR LIAR LIAR LIAR LIAR LIAR!

13. he had it in August, and he read it last week?
Either he's lying, or he was SEVERELY derelict in his duties as a president.

Either way, impeachable offense!

GET HIM, BOYS!

16. They'll move straight from "didn't know" to "we forgot"
That's what they did on the yellowcake excuse that was removed from bush's speech late 2002 but showed up in the SOTU in 2003. "We forgot," (that our excuse for invading a country was bull), said condi. The only person who ever took responsibility for it was Steven Hadley, and he was fired...not.
