Dean Vows 'Special Relationship' with Latin America
DERRY, N.H. (Reuters) - Democratic presidential front-runner Howard Dean (news - web sites) on Wednesday laid out his vision of a "special relationship" between the United States and Latin America based on equal partnership rather than "humiliation."

snip.........

"We have the worst relations with Mexico than we've had in a long time. We have the worst relations with Canada despite the smiley photo opportunity with Paul Martin, the new prime minister of Canada," he said.

snip...

"The extraordinary thing is, four years into Vicente Fox (news - web sites)'s presidency, this president has blown the biggest chance that we have had in a century to fundamentally change Mexico," Dean said. "The president of the United States abandoned him because he disagreed with him on Iraq."

"The president promised us a foreign policy based on humility, but he gave us a foreign policy based on humiliation."

snip.......

In recent years, leftist leaders have also been elected in Brazil and Argentina. Dean said the United States ought to offer support "instead of pushing back and trying to make their lives worse if they may not agree with us politically."

2. How about a "new" strategy
one of "mind your own biz and keep your nose out of mine". He needs to pull out all "intelligence" assets and troops out of there. People don't like the US down there for the same reason that Arabs don't like the US.

Where do you think that the term "Yanqui go home" originates from?

3. Kudos to Dean on the humility/humiliation line
Is Al Sharpton writing for Dean, now? That's a killer quip.
