..."We're sick and tired of seven years of George Bush," said Rep. Ellen Tauscher, D-Walnut Creek. "We're more than sick and tired; we're scared and frightened for the prospect of working families in this country and our national security and competitiveness."
Tauscher ridiculed Bush's address. "Apparently the president is suffering with the rest of Hollywood from the writer's strike."
Asked if there is any chance that Congress would extend Bush's 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, which expire in two years, House Democratic Caucus Chair Rahm Emanuel had a terse reply: "No."...
"It's going to be a long time before he's viewed very positively, frankly," Edwards said. "Because the one thing that you can't get over is that Iraq was terribly mishandled, from the justification for the war to the aftermath of the war. Even if, over time, under another president, Iraq works out to be at least a reasonable facsimile of a country, that Bush caused all these other problems from his decisions - that's never going to go away."
