Musharraf vows to strengthen nuclear capability
Edited on Sun Jan-18-04 12:38 AM by NNN0LHI
A military dictator with nukes. And Chimpys best buddy. May you live in interesting times indeed.

ISLAMABAD: President General Pervez Musharraf on Sunday said Pakistan’s nuclear and missile power is for the country’s defence.

"To strengthen it is in our interest. We have to assure the world that we are a responsible nation and will not allow proliferation of nuclear weapons," he added while addressing the joint session of parliament here.

"Al-Hamdolillah our defence is strong. We are a nuclear and a missile power. We, not only have to preserve this capability, but also have to strengthen it. For Pakistan’s stability and survival we cannot overlook this important asset," he categorically said.

President Musharraf said: "We are proud of our armed forces, because they have played an important role in country’s defence, growth and progress and will continue to do so." He, however, regretted that some elements were trying to bring a bad name to the army to achieve their nefarious designs. "But they do not understand that maligning of national institutions is in fact maligning the country."

1. This, more than Korea, scares the #@$% out of me.
In Pakistan we could be one bullet away from an fanatical Islamic regime with nuclear capability. We better pray for Musharraf, even if he doesn't have the greatest grasp of the concept of Democracy.

2. Well
they are way beyond N. Korea, but a bit behind India.
However, they are U$ allies in the war 'ginst terra'.
Do you think the U$ might ask them to nuke Afganistan. It would solve OIL corpolytes problems. They would have to tell India first that Afganistan is the target.
