(FL Gov. Charlie) Crist Says He'd Support a Repeat of Florida Democratic Primary
Source: Bloomberg via Yahoo!

Florida Governor Charlie Crist said he'd support a repeat of the Democratic presidential primary so the state's delegates can be counted at the party's national convention.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said he's open to the possibility. Primary elections are paid for by a state's taxpayers, so the offer from Crist, a Republican, is ``very helpful'' because money is an issue, Dean said.

``We're very willing to listen to the people of Florida,'' Dean said on CNN's ``Late Edition'' program today.

1. I donut trust him...
McCain's would-be Veep is just trying to cause discord among the National Democratic Party for the sake of his state.

10. I liked Crist before he became Florida's Education Secretary under Jebbie...
Then I couldn't stand him because he pushed those damned FCATs to the detriment of education (in my opinion).

Now that he is the Gov, I like him a bit more. Not sure that I'd trust him completely; he IS a Republican. But I think he might be one of the more honorable Republican. Or at least he is a practical one rather than an dogmatic one.

He might be sincere in this.

2. My guess is that Nelson will shut him down.
And continue to whine, and the lawsuit continues.

If Crist can get it going, then more power to him, but I'd take it with a tiny bit grain of salt.

If Crist accomplishes it, then the lawsuit becomes irrelevant, and will be dismissed.

I'd like to hear madfloridan's take on this.

3. Nelson can blow it out his ass.
The saddest thing is, Crist is probably a better Governator than our Dem nominee (Jim Davis)would have been.

4. Putting partisanshipm aside for a moment....
I've been hearing some very good things about Crist since he took office. He seems to be thinking of the people first and the party second. I wish more politicians - on both sides - would do that.

7. No
I went out of my way to vote knowing full well it wouldn't count. The state is damned BROKE. This will cost way too much money and why should Florida get special treatment, AGAIN. Then there is the trust issue as someone said.

No, no, no.

9. I don't trust Crist
If the Dem delegates count - OK. But he pushed Amendment 1 to cut homestead taxes. What the tax payers don't know is that there it also cuts the services from the State, County, and City level. This also includes Fire and Police services. I know because I work for the County and we are going through another cut in services!

12. I just don't understand that. The revenue increases

from Property Taxes must have been massive in the last 6 years

13. prop tax rollbacks, declining sales tax revenue...
Property taxes fund towns, cities, and counties. These are decreasing due to the housing slump, foeclosures, the prop. tax bill passed in the state legislature, the recently passed prop. tax amendment, etc.

This is pushing a greater financial burden on to the state level; in addition, slumping sales tax revenues (due to the economy) are knocking the State budget out of wack. The state budget over the next two years is forecast to have multibillion dollar deficits...and, per the state constitution, Florida is prohibited from running a deficit.
