Bush to Veto Waterboarding Bill

barred the CIA from using waterboarding - a technique that simulates drowning - and other harsh interrogation methods on terror suspects.

Bush has said the bill would harm the government's ability to prevent future attacks. Supporters of the legislation argue that it preserves the United States' right to collect critical intelligence while boosting the country's moral standing abroad.

"The bill would take away one of the most valuable tools on the war on terror, the CIA program to detain and question key terrorist leaders and operatives," deputy White House press secretary Tony Fratto said Friday.

4. Bush to veto bill banning waterboarding
Source: AP via Yahoo News

WASHINGTON - The White House says President Bush will veto legislation on Saturday that would have barred the CIA from using waterboarding — a technique that simulates drowning — and other harsh interrogation methods on terror suspects.

The bill would restrict the CIA to using only the 19 interrogation techniques listed in the Army field manual.

5. Have the US Marshalls waiting for him.
The minute he vetoes it, let them slap him in chains and drag him away. He deserves a taste of his own medicine, but I don't believe in torture.

18. Where's the fun in interrogations...
if you can't make the guy think you are killing him? I applaud Bush mightily on this one, because we MUST prove to the terrists that we can outdo them. Thank you Jesus for delivering Dubya to us so that he can make sure your desire to torture middle easterners are carried out. I have one question, though... How are the police in our country able to get anything done since they can't torture... You said it provided good intel.. Why not just make it mandatory, like childhood vaccines.. "Shit, I gotta go... I got my torture appointment at three. Today, they are gonna waterboard me!" That would be a sure way to keep them terrists out.

8. Doubt It
Our so-called leaders all stick together. I'm sure he'll spend the rest of his life without a care in the world. No Justice.

This isn't the movies, unfortunately, and there is no "V" to be found among us.

10. Just ~99% of the time. It's not that he is incapable of good.
I despise him for all the death, destruction and despair he has caused but to be realistic he has done a few good things. I want to be fair.

19. he actually did some good with the aid to Africa..
although he had to include an evil qualifier on it that mandated it go to abstinence only programs... which has been scientifically truthified as the only way to prevent AIDS. But I'm glad he provided aid, because how else would American missionary organizations get government funding to spread their message of hate.

available? I'm in the boonies.

Do you include much about not being allowed to see the "evidence" against yourself? That is about the most terrifying to me.

15. Did anyone doubt that he'd veto it?
I'm reminded of the time he was asked several years ago of if he's ever made a mistake during his presidency. He sat there yammering for 5 minutes, "Hmm, mistake, well, that's a tough one, heh, heh, not sure, I'd have to think about it. Hmm"
The basic credo to be espoused by the figurehead of the Neocon movement is: "Never backpedal."
No matter what you've done, never distance yourself, express doubt, second-guess, or apologize. That shows weakness.
Stick to the plan, give it time to work, and if the entire world is ripping itself apart, if every decision appears to be blowing up in your face, if you've been caught red-handed...
... then you just haven't given it enough time, because WE, the Neocons KNOW that our ideas are the only ones that are right, good, proper, and anyone who doubts that is unpatriotic, communist, aiding and abetting the terrorists, doesn't love America ... you've heard these idiots for 7 + years, now, y'all can fill in the rest as easy as I can.
