About 100 bodies found in Iraq mass grave
Source: Reuters

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi security forces found about 100 badly decomposed bodies in a mass grave north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Saturday, one of the largest such finds in the country for months.

U.S. and Iraqi security forces said it was not clear who was responsible for the grave near Khalis, 80 km (50 miles) north of Baghdad, or when the victims had been killed.

"Initial reports indicate it may contain the remains of approximately 100 people," said U.S. military spokesman Major Winfield Danielson.

Iraqi police said they suspected those in the grave were likely to have been killed some time after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion to topple Saddam Hussein.

...

"The skeletal remains appear to have been in the grave for a long time, and we have not yet determined who might be responsible for their death and burial," Danielson said.

4. Bombs don't dig mass graves.
They do kill a lot of people though but they don't dig mass graves.

Careless regard? I think they did take aim.

8. Iraqis protest in Basra over security
- Thousands of people took to the streets Saturday in Basra, protesting deteriorating security in the southern city where Iraqi forces assumed responsibility for safety last December.

It was day of violence as well as political unrest in Iraq: Police in Diyala province northeast of Baghdad reported two separate bombings in which six people were killed, and officers also found 13 bullet-ridden bodies.

In Basra, Iraq's second-largest city and the urban center of an oil-rich region, Shiite groups have been wrestling for control.

Residents are becoming increasingly alarmed, saying that killings, kidnappings and other crimes have increased significantly since British forces turned over responsibility for Basra at the end of last year.

(snip)
Also in Diyala province, an American soldier was killed Friday during an operation, the U.S. military said in a statement.

12. bUsh is far worse.
The Iraqis themselves have said so, repeatedly, since George took over for Saddam.

Even HRW and AI had said there'd been no mass killings et al for a decade prior to George's illegal war of aggression against the people of Iraq.

There is now.

16. this is part of the
reason why I don't bat an eye when there are claims of a million civilian deaths. I believe that there are many dead and buried that have not been counted. When the truth of this nightmare finally comes to light, concerning the human tragedy of the, Cheneybush invasion, it will be revolting.
