Fiscal Conservatives with Ties to Bush in Revolt
Very, very, very interesting stuff.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=584&e=1&u=/nm/20040121/pl_nm/bush_deficit_dc

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) faced open rebellion on Wednesday from some members of his fiscal conservative base for not laying out concrete plans to reduce government spending and the budget deficit.

<snip>

The rift could complicate Bush's election-year spending plans and play into Democratic charges he is jeopardizing the economy.

Though Bush announced a relatively small number of inexpensive domestic proposals, Heritage analyst Brian Riedl said fiscal conservatives were angry over what Cato estimated to be a nearly 25 percent surge in spending over the last three years -- the fastest pace since the Johnson administration of the mid-1960s.

Stephen Moore, president of the Club for Growth, a politically powerful conservative group, called Bush's State of the Union pledge to tackle the deficit "really unpersuasive."

William Niskanen, the chairman of Cato Institute who advised former President Ronald Reagan (news - web sites), called it "most misleading."

"Conservatives were left grumbling," Moore said.

They should be descending on George with pitchforks and torches.

3. Bless their cold, cold hearts
Gotta cut that spending; but 500+ dead americans and tens of thousands of dead civilians in Iraq all for george's personal and political gain, well that'skay. Yeah, lets tackle that deficit, but continue to fund the murder of our kids.

5. Unfortunately he CAN'T cut spending.

I'ts time for him to do the election year throwing-basketfulls-of-twenties-from-the-bandwagon thing, so the fiscal conservatives aren't going to get any happier with him any time soon.

6. What's funny is what I used to hear about Clinton SOTUs
My stepfather and my uncles would all sit around laughing at how Clinton was promising everything under the sun but never could or would talk about where the money was coming from. I would remind them that he was outlining his budget so the money was already accounted for, they would have none of it.

Sounds like W did what they always accused Clinton (who BTW is now a beacon of sound foreign policy in the right's eyes) of doing.

10. McCain
has been chewed up and spit out by the Bush cartel - I'm sure he's not anxious to get back into the fray on that level.

12. Why? Is McCain pussying out on us?
If so, then I don't ever want to hear him use the phrase 'When I was in a North Vietnamese prison camp...'. What the hell good is it to stand up to and survive torturous treatment at the hands of America's enemies, only to roll over and take it from America's government?

14. I think all these "conservatives" are actually a bunch of gas-bag whimps.
They are loyal to their political party well before our country. They are more than happy to stand by as their the liars and thieves who lead their party get wealthier by shiping America's resources out of our country.

These are not patriots and I do not expect them to willingly sacrifice their back-slapping among neo-conservatives to patriotically serve our country instead of the neo-con GOP leadership.

17. Read "The Triumph of Politics"
and you'll see, every Repub had their hand out, getting promises of funding for the appearance of cutting.

This happened long before the Dems got a look at it.

And then, Reagan would open his mouth, and blow the carefully crafted house of cards into further chaos.

13. tackle the deficit!
You mean the one he caused? There was no deficit before Bush.
is an out of control, insane, delusional little coward of an AWOL scardy cat prick, who has taken us, this country that we were once proud of, down the road to perdition. He thinks he is absolutely a great man compared to Roosevelt as he believes he has done more for human rights than any other president.

Under his stupidity and non leadership, we have been tossed hither thither and yon by lies, spin, stealth and evil like sinister secrecy from his administration as well as corrupt practices, favors, pay backs and a man whose false sense of entitlement dominates the office he stole in the first place.

He thinks he is entitled because he is a Bush. He is entitled as a Bush to be first in line to the courtroom after this treasonous, lying administration. He deserves to be tried for war crimes and he deserves to be impeached for this treasonous activity against his own people. Five hundred of our young have died because of an idiot and his lies. And he gets up before the world and behaves as if he was perfectly justified in haveing these young fight for him , the measly coward of an AWOL commander in chief, and die for his quest for oil and empire.

Anyone who would let their children ever even consider joining the US military after seeing the abuse and the con man Bush, donning the "costumes", and how easily this man, a coward, an AWOL man and his chickenhawks, have actually brought them to their premature deaths, in the prime of thier lives, has got to reconsider and has got to despise what Bush has brought this country to in three short years.

Shame

Do not romanticize the military to your children. Refuse to let them play the war games and do not buy them toys that are military.

I want a front row seat for this cat fight.

I am hoping that the various factions of the rethug party finaly have the chance to disregard party dicipline and have at it.

We will be the only ones to win.

16. Can we officially label them "Borrow & Spend" Pukes now?
But seriously, this does point out one distinction that I've been making to all my friends for a while now: The Bush gang are not conservatives -- they're radicals.
