Lou Dobbs Nails Tom "Bugman" Delay |
|
I am gaining increasing respect for CNN's Lou Dobbs. Tonight he nailed Tom Delay to the wall on the Bush tax cuts. Delay was spouting the usual nonsense about how the tax cuts are increasing government revenues and that more tax cuts will only help.
Dobbs asks him with a straight face, "So Senator, how many tax cuts will it take to balance the budget?"
He completely catches Delay off guard. It was a thing of beauty!

5. I wish someone would nail this guy to a percentage |
|
If lower taxes increase revenenues, where does it stop? Zero? 5? 10? Etc. The GOP are experts at the weasel words. "Lower Taxes" - Give me a number = lower could mean anything.
Delay is a Representative, not a Senator (A minor blessing)
Delay usually only goes on shows he knows he'll get softball questions (He won't go on Crossfire) so having Dobbs go after him must have been a surprise.
Just rememeber though, that Dobbs used "Drudge" as a source last week, so he still can be a lazy journalist.

7. Great line, wish I had watched it |
|
So what was the exterminator's response? Bet DeLay will never show up on this show again. repukes only show up on TV shows that treat them with kid gloves and never ask any hard questions.
I don't even like Dobbs.

10. "We're not building carriages anymore, we're building cars" |
|
"...and the cars are changing?"
What drug was Delay on? (He was trying to tell Dobbs that the world has changed, and as a result so have the rules).
Dobbs hit him with the "Outsourcing America" logic and Delay stated that it only stresses the need to have "workers trained in the proper skills" to prevent the jobs from leaving. One more slap in the face for American IT workers who spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars acquiring the "worthless" skills that they have now. Then he started spinning and saying that we have the best workers in the world, blah blah blah, and Dobbs said "It makes you wonder why the employers shipped those jobs overseas in the first place, doesn't it?"
Delay, realizing he'd painted himself in a corner, said "Which only make it more important to find ways to keep jobs here."
Translation: When American IT workers accept an Indian wage in America, the jobs won't go anywhere.

11. How many DUers couldn't enlist during the Vietnam War because ... |
|
... the military had no vacancies?
Those damned minorities filled all of the slots.
BugBomb Delay tried to enlist, but was turned away.
Un****ingbelievable!
That's his story and he's sticking with it.
