Iran says to sue U.S., Britain over mosque blast
Source: reuters

TEHRAN, May 12 (Reuters) - Iran's judiciary said on Monday it would file international lawsuits against the United States and Britain, accusing them of providing financial support to those behind a blast in a mosque that killed 14 people.

Iran's intelligence minister last week said Iran had arrested five or six members of a terrorist group with links to Britain and the United States who he said were involved in the explosion that also wounded 200 in the southern city of Shiraz.

Iranian officials had previously said the April 12 blast, during an evening prayer sermon by a prominent local cleric, was caused by explosives left over from an exhibition commemorating the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war.

Judiciary spokesman Ali-Reza Jamshidi told state television the terrorists behind the bombing were agents of the U.S. and British governments in Iran.

"The relationship of those who planted the bombs in Shiraz with the U.S. and Britain was identified and they were being financially supported and in fact they acted as foreign agents in Iran," he said.

2. Why not? If the US can sue people and gov'ts
for bombing airplanes, why can't other gov'ts sue for an unprovoked bombing of a church.
I believe the saying is, "What's good for the goose is good for the gander". Or, "turn about is fair play".

9. US families sue UBS over alleged terror links
ZURICH, Switzerland (AFP) - US victims of attacks in Israel and their families are suing Swiss bank UBS for 500 million dollars, alleging it financed terrorism by doing business with Iran, their lawyer told AFP Tuesday.

Some 50 plaintiffs, relatives of people killed or wounded in attacks in Israel and some of the victims themselves, filed the lawsuit in the Southern District of the New York court system, according to a document obtained by AFP.

The case, which was filed on Friday, is a civil action for "international terrorism, wrongful death, personal injury and related torts."

The plaintiffs quoted a 1996 US State Department report that accused Iran of sponsoring "international terrorism."

Their court summons noted that Iran and the groups it supported were subject to strict US government sanctions that made it difficult for them to move large sums of money around.

3. Oh-oh...
In the neocon's New World Order for oil, subordinates don't have the right to sue the dominant class.

End of discussion.

7. If we pulled this off
you think it is the first time we killed people in a country, overthrew governments, bought elections, or otherwise intervened?

This is (if it even was us)old hat.

Did Iran ever give back the "missing" US citizens yet?

Enemy of my enemy...

5. How did they get "the truth" out of the spies ? And why did they drop the accident angle?
I guess keeping live ordnance left over from the Iran,Iraq war on display in a mosque raised a few more then expected eyebrows ;)

They wanted to blame a lesser Arab Muslim sect in the area but this Bogey man keeps the 'death to America' crowd all foamy at the mouth

6. Can we take their embassy staff hostage?
mine international waters, and kill their military members in Lebanon. Oh wait..

Maybe a stray suicide belt meant for a kid (origin of the tactic) in the Iran Iraq war popped?

Ahmadinejad Criticized for Saying Long-Ago Imam Mahdi Leads Iran
TEHRAN, May 7 -- Several leading Iranian clerics criticized President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday for saying that the last imam of Shiite Islam, a messianic figure who Shiites believe was hidden by God 1,140 years ago, leads modern-day Iran.

"We see his hand directing all the affairs of the country,"
