Officials Warn N. African-Based Militants Can Blend In Without Raising Suspicions In Europe, U.S.


(CBS) The new faces of terror are militants inside an emerging al Qaeda cell, which U.S. officials warn presents a clear and growing threat to America.

Based in North Africa, the group calling itself "Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb" specializes in kidnappings and suicide attacks, reports CBS News correspondent Bob Orr.

A car bombing last September of an Algerian military barracks killed 28 people. But, follow-up bombings of a United Nations building and a diplomatic office signaled that Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, or AQIM, has bigger plans.

"They have devoted an enormous amount of their energy and their resources to try to build this up as a base to try to carry out attacks, not just in North Africa, but ultimately into West Europe and someday against North America," says Bruce Riedel of the Brookings Institute.

Riedel, a former CIA official, says a propaganda video - just posted on a jihad website - shows a sophisticated attack capability.

Mostly descended from Berbers, with some European (mostly from Greek/Roman times), a hefty dose of Arab (part of the Islamic conquest), with sub-Saharan (mostly from imported black slaves, mostly under Islam).

Mostly not black, unless we like the one-drop rule, but that's mostly an American thing.

"Black" usually means sub-Saharan. It used to also mean "not southern Africa", but immigration and assimilation mostly wiped out the indigenous peoples in the southern tier of African countries. I guess in the last 30 years or so San and Khoe have come to be regarded as "black", but again, that's because of American popular racial distinctions.

I want you to make that argument to the voters in W. VA for example, many of whom expressly and openly declared that their intent was to vote for HIllary or McCain just because they aren't black like Obama. Most of them thought Obama was Muslim and not born in the United States. 9. The real threat

The real threat is probably Europe which has seen a rise in "rhetoric" among fundamentalist Islamic groups. If there are "cells" operating, they are most likely operating in Europe. Not here.

But is another attack on the United States being planned? If there is, we won't know until it happens. I have never doubted Osama bin Laden planned 9/11 but he was "aided and abetted" by the Bush Administration, which really is just Bush and Cheney, which obviously thought some hijackings would fit nicely into their agenda to "colonize" the Middle East and seize the oil reserves.

Osama bin Laden is probably being very careful this time. What we saw on 9/11 is probably not all that was actually planned. There were other hijackers. And other planes. Sounds silly but the hijackers, while quite daring, probably were not the brightest light bulbs to begin with and so when the plan was to board planes around 8 am around the country, they forgot about time zones.

At best, the Bush Administration chose to merely ignore the plot but at best is ignoring the matter of Princess Haifa and the Riggs Bank investigation regarding her having written checks to a "poor Saudi family in California" who then gave the money to the hijackers and the Bush family association with the Saud family as well as its connection to Riggs Bank. The Bush Administration was more likely a co-conspirator. Bush and Cheney traitors. And war criminals.

The real enemy here is the one within. Which calls into question the matter of Nancy Pelosi choosing to deny the people the right to have a president and vice-president who have consistently acted against the interests of the American people impeached and removed from office.

We are all focused on the presidential race when we really need to be focused on the races for Congress. We need a new Congress. And a new table.

are those in the West who agitate for Shariah incorporation into Western law.

Bush started a war against a Secular leader (and country) and ignored the true threat, the Wahhabists in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries who to this day fund radical Imams and groups who reside in Western countries.

We should have been courting secular leaning Sunni's after 9-11, but instead we turned against them, and in turn, it turned the whole of the Islamic world (moderates included) against us.

The Saud family may be friends of the Bushes. But they walk a tightrope with the Wahhabis who few realize "co-rule" Saudi Arabia. The Wahhabis teach Saudi children that the West, the United States in particular, is evil. And is to be shunned and eventually destroyed.

The Bushes belong at Nuremberg. Along with Nancy Pelosi and quite a few others in Congress. Along with the Clintons.
