White House press secretary says McClellan 'disgruntled about his experience'
Edited on Wed May-28-08 10:18 AM by maddezmom
Source: MSNBC

From NBC's Les Kretman
White House press secretary Dana Perino released this statement on Scott McClellan's critical book on the Bush White House:

"Scott, we now know, is disgruntled about his experience at the White House. For those of us who fully supported him, before, during and after he was press secretary, we are puzzled. It is sad -- this is not the Scott we knew."

More from Perino: "The book, as reported by the press, has been described to the president. I do not expect a comment from him on it -- he has more pressing matters than to spend time commenting on books by former staffers."

"Well, look, it goes to show how out of the loop he was, that he didn't think we spent much time together," Rove said. "I mean, over the course of the seven years or six years that we worked together, Scooter and I spent a lot of time first on the campaign and then when we were at the White House we were on several committees together."

The White House sloughed off the book this morning as the work of a disgruntled former staffer.

"Scott, we now know, is disgruntled about his experience at the White House," White House press secretary Dana Perino said in a statement for reportings traveling with Bush in Colorado today. " For those of us who fully supported him, before, during and after he was press secretary, we are puzzled. It is sad - this is not the Scott we knew."

She added: "The book, as reported by the press, has been described to the President. I do not expect a comment from him on it - he has more pressing matters than to spend time commenting on books by former staffers"

McClellan book flap has familiar ring, Clarke says
Posted: 10:17 AM ET
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Former Bush administration spokesman Scott McClellan’s new memoir is shaking up the capital Wednesday, but a one-time White House aide-turned-critic says the reaction has a familiar ring.

“They’re saying some of the exact same things about McClellan they said about me,” Richard Clarke, the former White House counterterrorism chief, told CNN’s “American Morning.”

Clarke left government in 2003. The following year, he accused President Bush of ignoring warnings about the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington and of using the attacks to push for war with Iraq. But Clarke gave McClellan little credit for speaking out now.

“I think the difference with McClellan’s book is he’s now telling us something we all know — that the war with Iraq was a disastrous war (and) was sold with deception. It’s a little different when you say something as I did and a few other people did four or five years ago, when the war was popular and when we were unpopular for saying what we said.”

1. "disgruntled former staffer" Yet Bush was talking about
how they'd be spending retirement sitting on the porch in Crawford. I don't think they understand that people don't like being used by Rove, Libby, Rumsferatu, etc.

3. Well What Did You Expect Perino To Say....
I guess if it were up to the MSM and many here on this board - she would have to resign her post in order to tell us what she really feels. I guess we'll just have to wait until her book comes out to tell us how she really feels about this and what is currently being said in the WH. (sarcasm)

6. "has been described to the President"-Bush has executive summaries read to him
Like the August 6th PDB - intel experts said that they had never heard of a PDB being less than 10 pages (the activity of the world over the preceding 24 hours) let alone ONE PAGE and never on one and only one topic.

W infamously said "Okay you've covered your ass now" after it was read to him.

19. I hate the "I'll put up with it for long enough to gain material for my tell book" mentality
Edited on Wed May-28-08 11:26 AM by Cant trust em
I need to see more people resign in righteous indignation. If people feel strongly enough about the lies that happened while they were in power to write a book, then they should get out as soon as they start having those feelings. Make a splash when you're still relevant. I'm sure that they'd be putting their future careers on the line, but thems the breaks. Maybe there's some kind of "code" when doing this type of thing, but integrity is a bitch.

24. OF COURSE he's disgruntled! He worked for a LYING SACK OF SHIT!
Anyone with the smallest spark of a soul (assuming he could possibly be persuaded to take the job in the first place) would be "disgruntled", for damned good reason.

25. Perino: All of the rhetoric with only half the smarts
Dana Perino is the ditz who once poo-poo'd a reporter's comparison of the Bush administration's proposed missile defense shield in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union putting missiles in Cuba (setting up the Cuban Missile Crisis) and later admitted that she had no idea what the Cuban Missile Crisis was.

We now have LESS reason to believe anything a press secretary says... if that is even possible..
