Taylor: FEMA officials a 'bunch of buttheads'
By J.R. WELSH
SUN HERALD

-- An official reaction to FEMA's no-ice policy came from U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor who referred to FEMA officials as a "bunch of buttheads."

Last week, officials were told that FEMA had decided to only supply ice for use in medical emergencies and life-saving reasons. It's left local officials scrambling to figure out ways to make it available for the general public.

During a meeting with Hancock County Board of Supervisors this morning Taylor said he intends to write to FEMA to register his objections to the new policy. He also urged Hancoc supes as well as the city councils of waveland and bsl to send similar letters of objection.

"I'm going to write a letter and tell them what a bunch of buttheads they are," said Taylor.

LOL, I love it when Congressman Taylor is honest in his assessments and isn't afraid to say things but seriously, isn't buttheads being too kind?

Congressman Gene Taylor :yourock:

1. Yes, much too kind.
Drop the FEMA 'deciders' off in the middle of any emergency and wish them "good luck". As my mom used to say, "There are people in hell who want ice water, too...", and that's where FEMA belongs for their disregard of their fellow citizens. NOLA in 2005, Indiana today, they have done nothing but fail us.

3. Oh, they had trucks full of ice during NOLA...they sent them to Maine, I think.

I have no problem with public hangings for FEMA officials.

12. Yes. And the guillotine is a fine idea.
Except that it's French. Which makes it wonderfully appropriate to avenge New Orleans, but hanging is so much more American, really.

5. FEMA and all the other departments
Parks & Recreation; Education; FDA; CDC; you know the list is endless. Who was it that said (re)Publicans don't believe government works. Then they get elected and prove it.

14. Well...well...it's not like they were hired for competence.
They were hired for political orthodoxy. And that they do very well.

4. I can't help but think of the saying
"there are sinners in hell that want ice water" - it seems to be the perfect description of what will happen to the buttheads that made this decision.

6. They did not deliver ice down here after Katrina!
Almost all the ice delivered was by churches and others. Even the Sun Herald delivered some ice. They sent several reporters and their families to Columbus,GA and printed the papers, and to get them back into Gulfport, they loaded ice on the trucks along with the papers. Otherwise a lot of the people without electricity, phones, etc. would not have access to information about what was going on.

11. yes, fema did deliver ice after Katrina
not immediately after - there was so much confusion and clusterf'ing that it was difficult to get things down here and then properly distributed. Some of the ice trucks were detoured north of the coast by their law enforcement so they could get ice and/or water. A huge percentage of the state was without electricity. All 82 counties had to be declared emergency disaster zones for federal assistance. In Harrison County they were intent on bottling things up at one central command space and then delegating where it went, at first it took them time to figure out who were the indians and who were the chiefs and what to do.

in the fall election. Do people who vote Republican deserve what the Republicans do to them?

18. You know that he is a superdelegate that refused to endorse
either one of the candidates because neither Obama nor Clinton voted for the multiperil legislation he has been working on since Katrina.

He doesn't fool around, he would make a great president and I think that Katrina made him move away from the DLC faction of the party - he had to be willing to fight for the people and he has been doing that.

19. Taylor is a conservative twit
He only started giving a shit about FEMA when HIS OWN HOUSE was flattened in Katrina. Other than that, he's a blue dog Democrat. Conservatives only give a shit about some issue when it affects them personally, like it did Taylor. Otherwise, he wouldn't have gotten involved.

21. What, FEMA changes how it wants to do business, but doesn't tell anybody?

Yes, we so need to vote McCain and continue Republican management of our government.
