Charges Reduced in Beating Death, Protestors Gather

It was an emotional day at the Schuylkill County courthouse Monday, inside and outside, as a district judge ruled there is enough evidence to send three teens to trial in connection with a deadly beating.

Brandon Piekarsky and Colin Walsh, Shenandoah Valley High School football players, and their friend, Derrick Donchak are charged in connection with the death of Luis Ramirez, 25. The Hispanic man died last month after witnesses said the three teens beat him in Shenandoah. Prosecutors are calling it a racially motiviated crime.

The district judge found there was enough evidence to send the case to trial. First and second-degree murder charges were dropped against Piekarsky and Walsh.

Before the hearing began a second charge was filed against Derrick Donchak. He is now accused of assault with a deadly weapon. Investigators said the weapon was something similar to brass knuckles.

40 years ago the German Catholics, Irish Catholics, and Polish Catholics all had their own churches and refused to associate with each other in each of the towns in that reagion. So you can only imagine what the reaction is to brown people there.

"Officials have not released many details, citing the continuing investigation, but gave this account: Ramirez was walking along narrow Lloyd Street about 11:30 p.m. There he was confronted by six borough males, all white, five of whom attend Shenandoah High School. A fight broke out, and Ramirez suffered injuries that led to his death Monday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville."

"Ramirez's death was ruled a homicide by Montour County Coroner Scott Lynn, who determined that he died from head trauma."

"Lloyd Street resident Eileen Burke, a retired Philadelphia police officer, said she had heard the confrontation and went outside to see what was happening. Burke did not see the beating but saw Ramirez on the ground and heard one of the teens yell to Arielle Garcia, "Tell your Mexican friends to get out of town or you'll be laying next to him," Burke said.

Which till the immigrants arrived was all white :shrug: Judges are elected in PA.

This was a hate crime and when 4 people attack one person its 2nd degree murder. This judge should be removed from the bench.
