Yastrzemski Hospitalized in Boston with Chest Pains
Source: New England Cable News

NECN: Boston, Mass.) - Carl Yastrzemski has been hospitalized in Boston for tests after experiencing what his spokesman calls chest pains.

Spokesman Dick Gordon says the Red Sox Hall of Famer went to Massachusetts General Hospital this morning.

"He had experienced some chest pains and he's in for testing," Gordon said.

The 68-year-old Yastrzemski was baseball's last player to win the Triple Crown in 1967 and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1989.

He's always been one of my favorites. I hope he's ok.

2. He was a legend when I started watching baseball as a kid ....
he was still having all-star seasons as late as 1979 and was still a dangerous hitter when he retired ... wish the best for Yaz

one of a kind, he was.

9. All the best, Yaz. Here's my childhood baseball hero.
Grew up without a Dad, but worshipped Al, and he never let me down. He'll be 74 in December.

He and Yaz intersect in more ways than one. Yaz was the first American Leaguer to finish his career with 3,000 hits and 400 home runs.

Kaline had the 3,000 hits - but finished with 399 home runs. Unbelievable that he retired just one home run away.

Oh well, Barry Sanders quit before putting all the rushing records away, too. That's Detroit, for ya.

Thanks Al, and get well, Yaz. Even though you beat us out by a lousy game for the '67 title (got even in '68, though).

8. His catch in 1967 protecting Billy Rohr's no hit bid is the greatest catch I've ever seen.
