Pasco man shootin' mad after Obama speech, authorities say
Source: St. Petersburg Times

The man stood outside his RV, yelling and shooting a gun into the air. When Pasco sheriff's deputies confronted him, he ran inside and wouldn't come out.

That started a six-hour standoff late Monday night between the man, whose name was not released, and authorities, Sheriff's Office spokesman Kevin Doll said

SWAT team units arrived later and surrounded the RV, Doll said. As the situation entered the early hours of this morning, SWAT team members fired riot gas into the man's home. He still wouldn't come out, Doll said.

14. Raygun turned them out
now it's going to be hell putting them all back in. They've (in)bred in the meantime. Worse, there's a goodly percentage of our military that's been infested with those goons who openly admit they're "in training for the race wars".

Those morans need to get a clue. They're an almost vanishing minority. The vast majority of us don't mind one bit spraying a few cockroaches in order to have a clean kitchen again. They're going to have to get along with polite society or spend time in jail (or in treatment) away from it. Their choice.

25. I've been following this for a couple of years
Start here with these articles

The report that caught my eye initially a couple of years back was SPLC's article (which you'll find in the Google results above) which read in part:

A Few Bad Men
Ten years after a scandal over neo-Nazis in the armed forces, extremists are once again worming their way into a recruit-starved military.

by David Holthouse

July 7, 2006 -- Before the U.S. military made Matt Buschbacher a Navy SEAL, he made himself a soldier of the Fourth Reich.
Before Forrest Fogarty attended Military Police counter-insurgency training school, he attended Nazi skinhead festivals as lead singer for the hate rock band Attack.

And before Army engineer Jon Fain joined the invasion of Iraq to fight the War on Terror, the neo-Nazi National Alliance member fantasized about fighting a war on Jews.

"Ever since my youth -- when I watched WWII footage and saw how well-disciplined and sharply dressed the German forces were -- I have wanted to be a soldier," Fain said in a Winter 2004 interview with the National Alliance magazine Resistance. "Joining the American military was as close as I could get."

Ten years after Pentagon leaders toughened policies on extremist activities by active duty personnel -- a move that came in the wake of the Oklahoma City bombing by decorated Gulf War combat veteran Timothy McVeigh and the murder of a black couple by members of a skinhead gang in the elite 82nd Airborne Division -- large numbers of neo-Nazis and skinhead extremists continue to infiltrate the ranks of the world's best-trained, best-equipped fighting force. Military recruiters and base commanders, under intense pressure from the war in Iraq to fill the ranks, often look the other way.

Neo-Nazis "stretch across all branches of service, they are linking up across the branches once they're inside, and they are hard-core," Department of Defense gang detective Scott Barfield told the Intelligence Report. "We've got Aryan Nations graffiti in Baghdad," he added. "That's a problem."

The armed forces are supposed to be a model of racial equality. American soldiers are supposed to be defenders of democracy. Neo-Nazis represent the opposite of these ideals. They dream of race war and revolution, and their motivations for enlisting are often quite different than serving their country.

"Join only for the training, and to better defend yourself, our people, and our culture," Fain said. "We must have people to open doors from the inside when the time comes."

Bold emphasis mine.

Between the Klan, the NeoNazis, and the doomsday bring-on-the-apocalypse jeebuscreepers in the military, all using it for their own weird little cult-purposes, we have a real problem, here Houston.

31. Disgusting
It was hard to read most of that, those types make me want to start my own little war sometimes. Being a current serviceman makes it even more despicable to me, since even from the first couple of days at basic training you rapidly realize how identical everyone really is. It's just the cultures that are different.

37. Thank you very much for your service
My service was long ago and it seemed to me that things have certainly changed. Oh, we had our share of nutjobs, but they stood out and most everyone avoided them. Understanding that people (1) don't volunteer the way they do in wartime they way they do in peacetime and (2) recruiters and the pressures on them haven't changed much, ever, and (3) I haven't much reason to doubt SPLC, it makes for some pretty sobering reading. Hate-radio has really done a number on the civilian population and hate groups have increased in size and number upwards of the middle 60s-percentile during the * regime alone. It only stands to reason that *'s little war of convenience has been a fine place for hate-groups to send their militias for training.

I wish you safety in every regard. You and every other service person are always in this ol' vet's heart.

29. It's not about the trailer park at all...
It's the combo of things about this guy -

Rethug
In Florida (I got nothing against Florida either, but it has produced some... ahem... "interesting" things politically)
In a trailer park (image in my head: fairly densely populated with lots of innocent bystanders to witness the meltdown vs. isolated, backwoods uni-bomber-style shack)
With weapons
Furious with Obama
Yelling and screaming outside his home at no one in particular
Shooting wildly into the air
Then retreating to the confines of his trailer for a showdown with police.

All that creates quite the mental image for me and sums up all the frustrations of the Republican party right now. EXERCISES IN FUTILITY. Kind of like William H. Macy at the end of Fargo.

And he makes a LOVELY Republican surrogate. I'm sure everyone was moved by his message!

It's got nothing to do with trailer parks... just helped paint the mental picture for me. No offense intended. And I sincerely apologize if it was taken that way.

:hi:

11. This is only one-----I'm sure there'll be more
I am sure the media won't be covering most of these stories for fear that it will motivate other unbalanced racist right wingers to follow their lead.
The only good thing about these events is that it will get some of the most dangerously unstable people to come out of the shadows and help them find a room at their local Iron Bar Hotel. The more white supremacist types we can identify, the better. We must grow our country beyond the old racism of the past.
We cannot solve our national problems as long as hate is the centerpiece of the political dialog.

18. I wonder what about her speech set him off. The optimism? The patriotism? The loving older brother?
Maybe it was the hard working father, or the charming story of how the Obamas hooked up, or even their pixyish little daughter saying "I love you" at her father on the big screen. I admit that that moment got me a little riled up too. Or, hell, who knows... it might have even been her skin color. Nah, I'm just kidding about that.

22. other than skin color
probably the references to trying to change the world into what it should be, rather than what it is now. These people detest change, progress and growth. They want everything to stay the same in their jaysus-fearin' homo-hatin' narrow little views of the world.

That's why we, as progressives, always ultimately win. Sometimes it seems like progress is just coming sooooooo sloooooow, and even like we're moving backwards at times, but in the end, progress wins.

If it were left up to the drunk shootup boy in this story and his ilk, the Obamas would still be sitting in the back of the bus and using "colored" restrooms. Yep, my guess is her references to progress is what got under his sking the most.

of a Obama presidency....Once the racist see there's nothing to fear and see that some of the power is comimg back to the people under Obama, instead of all of it going to the fascist republican corporations.... some may even change their way of thinking.

Many of them, their whole lives of hate will have to come into question....But many, more will just continue to listen to the Limbaugh's messages of hate and tear downs to reinforce their racist convictions....

Right-wing hate radio will be relentless if Obama wins the presidency.....we all saw how bad it was with the last democratic president Clinton...expect it to be much much worse for Obama!

if it was Ohio and not Florida. There are thousands of racist nutcases in this country who are going to have a very difficult time coming to terms with the idea of a black American president. As long as they shoot up in the air and not at somebody we'll be okay--but my guess is that we're going to see a lot more violence directed at Democrats before we're done. A lot of freeptards really believe they're an embattled minority and that the country is on the verge of some kind of civil war--and they're just the gun-totin' lunatics to start it. Yeesh.
