The Rocky Mountain NewsDENVER CITY AND COUNTY BUILDING -- City attorney David Fine responded to the American Civil Liberties Union complaint about conditions at the "Gitmo on the Platte" detention center by saying the city worked hard to protect the rights of arrested protesters.
“We have received the ACLU’s letter and will carefully examine the issues they raise," Fine replied in a statement responding to the Rocky's request for comment.

ACLU delivered a letter to city officials Wednesday afternoon complaining that protesters taken to the detention facility were wubjected to conditions that violated their constitutional rights and induced some of them to plead guilty.
The prisoners were denied access to lawyers and phone calls, kept in freezing-cold pens and appeared in court in the early morning hours Tuesday exhausted after not having slept, the ACLU said.

Even when you have a liberal/progressive mayor (John Hickenlooper) the rights of people are ignored.
