Palin won’t be subpoenaed in ‘Troopergate’ probe
Source: Detroit Free Press

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Alaska state legislators are preparing to issue subpoenas as part of an investigation into Gov. Sarah Palin’s handling of the “Troopergate” affair, but Palin herself won’t be hit with one.

State Sen. Hollis French, the Anchorage Democrat who is managing the probe into Palin’s firing of her former public safety commissioner, said legislators decided not to subpoena Palin as a gesture to calm what has become a standoff between the Legislature and the new Republican vice presidential nominee.

“We’re trying to de-escalate the situation. We just want the truth, clear the air,” French said.

However, legislators still want their investigator to interview Palin.

1. The legislature can force Palin to attend a public hearing...

This was stated in another article that I posted, and which quickly sank to the bottom of the DU thread well.

5. The outcome is preordained
It's a GOP state, and the Alaska GOP does what the RNC says.

10. No shock there
But she'll still lose. The only things she'll gain from this doomed campaign is a bunch of stupid t-shirts. I'm sure the fix was in before she was even chosen to be an ass on the national stage.

11. I actually think the opposite....
The evidence from others will be so damning with no ability to rebut by Palin. She would then WANT to come voluntarily to testify. By not subpoena'ing her, they avoid a court fight which may go against them.

This way, all the emails and testimony of others will be on record and published in the newspapers daily.

Independents will read it.

Brilliant move

12. Once again no subpoena
So business as usual for Republicans. They never have to be
responsible for their actions or questioned. If she has
nothing to hide, she should welcome a subpoena to clear her
name. I can almost smell her corruption!

14. She wouldn't obey the subpoena anyway...
Her right had man, the one that was placed on paid administrative leave after a recording of him calling the trooper station in the valley surfaced, did not show up for his deposition. One of the main reasons given for him being placed on paid administrative leave is so that he would not have any conflicts and could testify and cooperate to the fullest in the investigation. Now he is lawyered up, and not talking, just like Sarah. Rumor is she is going to be back in the state, and might be talking to the investigator.

The committee is meeting in Anchorage on Friday to decide whether or not to subpoena people and who to subpoena amongst other things related to the investigation. Hollis is my state senator, and is a great guy. I don't think there is anything nefarious behind the decision not to subpoena her. She has said all along she would love the chance to talk to investigators, so why not give her the chance. I'm sure they have enough dirt on her without her coming in and not answering anything. But it would be nice to add perjury to her long list of unethical behavior.

I am going to try to head down to the legislative offices to check out the meeting if it is open to the public next week.

19. at the beginning, its not a good idea to subpoena Palin
you want to get a lot of facts from the low level people and find out who is going to testify against her.

22. Detail on the Troopergate issue
I'm a new poster here and fed up with the republicans and the dismal state they've placed our country and it's citizens into.

I'm a divorced father and I went a site that allowed me to gather into and a forum to read similar stories and situations as mine while I was going through the court system...

That being said, I go back from time to time to read and offer advice as I can and I found this

http://www.dadsdivorce.com/content/view/374/46

It is critical that this story, the WHOLE story gets out, I'm tired of issues like this getting 'glossed' over for the simple sound bite.

I hope there is enough time before the election to have the media and the people of this nation see and hear the real facts of these candidates
