Granholm to help Biden plan for debate

Gov. Jennifer Granholm will reprise her acting career to play the political scene's latest rock star: Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Granholm has been tapped by the Obama campaign to stand in for John McCain's running mate to help Democratic Sen. Joe Biden prepare for his vice presidential debate. The nationally televised debate is Oct. 2 at Washington University in St. Louis.

Granholm tried acting in Los Angeles before embarking on a legal and political career.

She and Palin share common characteristics: Both are the first female governors of their states. Palin is a hockey mom; Granholm is a soccer and basketball mom. Palin was Miss Wasilla, Alaska; Granholm was Miss San Carlos, Calif. Both had brief television gigs, Granholm on "The Dating Game," Palin as a TV sports reporter.
