Miss. Supreme Court Justice (R) Indicted
JACKSON, Miss. July 25 — AP

A state Supreme Court justice and a prominent attorney were indicted Friday in a federal investigation into whether trial lawyers bribed judges in exchange for favorable treatment.

The 16-count bribery and fraud indictment includes an accusation that attorney Paul Minor guaranteed a $75,000 loan to Justice Oliver Diaz Jr. and Diaz's former wife in exchange for favorable treatment in court. ---

Diaz had been considered among the state's most promising up-and-coming Republicans, though judicial candidates run without party labels.

Minor, 55, made millions of dollars by winning several landmark cases, including one against big tobacco companies. ---

1. Another judicial nominee for Bush?
Just asking :-)

Indictments, felony convictions, and verdicts overturned on appeal--by Raygun's hand-picked bandits in robes--seem to be a prerequisite for the job of Federal judge, as far as Bush is concerned :eyes:

2. Direct knowledge of corruption in Judicial system.
In high school my friend with 3 guys stole a car for a joy ride. (Out of stupidity. They had no chop shop, no plan to sell it.) All caught. Arrested-booked, Grand Theft. Got lawyer, made a deal with the judge to 'burn' the records. Judge heard case on lunch time in the court. Judge, 'Are you a good kid?' My friend, 'Yea'. $2000 went to the judge. $1000 went to the District Attorney. $1000 went friends attorney, (in addition to the base fee.) Father was in court with him but no court personel present.

Friend did not go to college but became a states certified engineer by passing the states exam via, Life's Experience waiver to having a Engineering degree. Great person, great family, great kids in college.

Will not name city.

As far as I'm concerned this kind of corruption can be tolerated. But corruption like Niel Bush, Junior Bush, Jeb Bush, GOP children... making millions from doing nothing is real corruption.
