Lieberman: Working hard for McCain; prepared to bring people together if he fails
Source: Stamford Advocate

From Joe's hometown paper

(snip)

Speaking of Obama directly, Lieberman said he might vote for him as president someday in the future, but specified the Democrat is "less prepared" than McCain.

"When I endorsed John in December of last year, I cited ... he was ready to be commander-and-chief on day one," Lieberman said.

Palin has come under fire from members of both parties as being ill-prepared to assume the role of commander-and-chief if necessary. Lieberman himself was the Democrats' vice presidential nominee in 2000 and ran unsuccessfully for president in 2004.

"Let's hope she never has to be ready because we hope McCain is elected and live out his term," Lieberman said. "But if, God forbid, an accident occurs or something of that kind, she'll be ready. She's had executive experience. She's smart. And she will have had on-the-job training."

Lieberman said if Obama wins on Election Day, he will support his presidency.

"I'm working my heart out for John McCain to be elected our next president," Lieberman said. "But for whatever reason he is not, I'm going to do everything I can to be bringing people together across party lines to support the new president so he can succeed. What's at stake for our country is just too serious."

6. Poor dumb Joe, all he sees is the military function
of CIC. I guess if your career is dedicated to the well being of Israel, that's all you really care about.

I see him as a beaten man on November 5, chased from all positions of importance in the Senate in January, and defeated in 2010. He's going to be in no position to bring anyone anywhere.

10. Joe, you Silly Little Man.
Threw it all away for ambition. You are so silly, you aren't even pathetic or embarassing. You are simply contemptuous, in the way only the truly and cravenly ambitious can be.

May you drag twelve feet of flyblown, prolapsed colon around behind you, for the rest of your days. And get a Senate office in the basement, renovated from an old and especially smelly mop room. And may you be budgeted for but one staffer. And no phone.

23. Greater than or less than 59.
Either way and Joe can have a nice day as a backbench has-been in the Senate. There are two numbers I really care about on Nov 4: the electoral vote margin of victory for Obama and the number of Democratic (plus Bernie of course) Senators in the next Congress. If we don't need Traitor Joe, out he goes. If I were in charge I would put him out even if he did run the total to 60, but I suspect our ever cautious party leadership would not act that way.

30. Not a popular opinion now, but I'd welcome him back (kind of).
He's putting out feelers clearly. Why would he want to be locked into being part of an impotant GOP caucus, and face certain defeat in 2012? If he behaves after the election, then that's fine with me.
