Sarah Palin’s failure set to reap her $7m book deal
Source: Times Online

She failed to save John McCain from presidential election doom, but Sarah Palin, the Republican senator’s controversial running mate, may yet emerge as the saviour of the American publishing industry. Literary agents are queueing up to sign her to a book deal that could earn her up to $7m.

With Barack Obama’s election victory certain to generate dozens of volumes from politicians, strategists and journalists – and with another shelfload of memoirs expected from members of President George W Bush’s administration – Palin’s personal account of her tumultuous introduction to national politics is widely regarded as the book most likely to repay a multi-million-dollar advance.

“She’s poised to make a ton of money,” said Howard Rubenstein, New York’s best-known public relations adviser.

“Every publisher and a lot of literary agents have been going after her,” added Jeff Klein of Folio Literary management.

8. Y'all didn't see this coming? - bad press is better than NO press, not a new idea . .
.
.
.

Sarah had a good look at the inside from the inside.

Flame at her all you want, but I don't think she is stupid.

She's getting more press than any other Governor ain't she?

And she ain't spending the millions Obama did . . .

All the name-calling denigrating remarks just work in her favor . .

Not exactly a new concept . . .

AND

She has invites to Letterman, Oprah and more

Quite an achievement for an "idiot"

Wake up - she IS important

Remember this - The American voters/population allowed the BushGang to slaughter thousands(that's a conservative estimate) of innocents in the last 8 years.

So Sarah don't scare me, or worry me.

O.K.?

I'm more concerned about what the racist population is going to do in the near future . .

37. Sooooooooo true. Great point - if Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt can be famous for
doing pretty much nothing then Palin was a shoe-in for a big payday.

Maybe Palin will be doing the award ceremony circuit soon for a small king's ransom.

16. This sickens me. However, one bright spot is that she may not write that book while she's Governor
because there's something in the AK law that prohibits government employees from such "outside" double dipping endeavors.

Just perhaps, her star will fade out soon ENOUGH. One can only hope.

29. What's really galling is not only
will she not be writing this herself, but this is taking advances out of the pockets of real writers. This creature has done NOTHING of merit. She's a walking example of the triumph of avarice and naked ambition over substance. And instead of intellect or intellectual curiosity, she is sub-literate and proud of being dumb as dirt. (Okay, so that's a hard go on dirt.)

It's bad enough that the world of letters is sinking into a vast morass, but that this twinkie is considered bankable makes me throw up in my mouth a little every time I think of it. Ew.

30. She is a character out of the Middle Ages. Some climber
getting into the higher ranks by sure tenacity and, dare I say it, AUDACITY. She is intelligent but in the way the smarter Nazis were or Empress Theodora. As a historian, I am rather awed that this sort of phenomenon persists!!

39. No. What's *really* galling about this...
... is that she's going to get $7 million and be set financially for life rather than going to prison for being a member of this corrupt administration currently occupying the White House.

42. How else would the corrupt bastards pay her off?
A book looks like honest work, and it doesn't matter if they end up selling most copies in bulk to right wing front groups to give away to their captive morans or fuel the furnaces of hell.

Go Sarah! Your bosses owe you big for that nasty bit of work.

Go home to Alaska, shoot a GOP moose or something from your snow machine if it makes you feel better, and please don't bother us again.

45. Nope
McLame got over fifty million votes. If even one percent of those voters buys this book at full retail, that will make it a ton of money for the publisher. The right wing will push this hard, large sales figures will be "proof" that McInsane's failure was not CB's fault.

There are a lot of ways to make mediocrity pay. Anybody remember William Hung? Or Pauley Shore?
