Zimbabwe Cholera Crisis Escalates
Source: Sky News

Sky News has obtained exclusive video of body bags being piled up in a hospital toilet in Zimbabwe - as the death toll from cholera reaches 565.

. . .

The disease, carried by contaminated water, has spread across most of the country and is the latest symptom of the collapse of Zimbabwe's basic infrastructure under Robert Mugabe's rule. This week, water supplies have been switched off in large areas of the capital because of a shortage of purification chemicals.

. . .

The neighbouring nation's Musina Hospital - located just a few miles from the barbed wire fence that Zimbabweans jump in their thousands each week - has treated 400 cholera patients in the past fortnight. The hospital has set up four tents in the grounds to deal with the influx.

. . .

Zimbabwe's response to the crisis inside its own borders has been voiced by the country's Health Minister David Parirenyatwa, who suggested that people should stop shaking hands to prevent the spread of the disease.
