Governors Meet With Bush After Iraq Trip
WASHINGTON -- Governors just back from a trip to Iraq stressed the need to "stay the course" after meeting with President Bush at the White House Friday.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a Republican, said the issue came up in conversations with Iraqis as the six governors traveled the country.

"We had a number of people ask us, 'Will you continue to stand with us as we go to this transition to freedom and democracy?' " Pawlenty told reporters. "It's very important that the United States send a signal that we're going to stay the course and finish the job."

New York Gov. George Pataki, also a Republican, agreed. "If we win in Iraq, then we will have broken the back of terrorism," Pataki said.

2. Were these the idiots with the ice cream cones?
What job are we supposed to finish? Seems to me these fucking governors should be more concerned about all the jobs that have been "finished" their own states while they were gone.

Face it, if the US military ever picks up and leaves that shit hole, there will be an immediate civil war that will last until the next Saddam emerges.

Broken the back of terrorism. What nonsense, not worth dignifying with a response.

4. one of those idiots
was our (Oregon) useless, spineless governor, Ted Kulongoski. His only saving grace is that his opponent, Kevin Mannix, was so much worse.

5. Quagmire maybe, shithole no way.
Iraq was a very progressived and civilized country before we went in a fucked it up. Saddam was a tyrant for sure, but he moved the country forward in many ways. I hate it when people stereotype Iraq as a 3rd world dump. Shows total ignorance.
