NEW YORK—As the White House released dental records intended to support U.S. President George W. Bush's account of his Air National Guard service in Alabama, several former members of his guard unit said they don't recall ever seeing Bush at their Montgomery base.

Nor does the dentist who signed the records specifically recall treating Bush. But all of them told Associated Press that doesn't mean he wasn't there, serving alongside hundreds of others in the Alabama unit.

The White House late Wednesday released a copy of a dental evaluation Bush had at Dannelly Air National Guard Base in Montgomery on Jan. 6, 1973, which Bush spokesperson Scott McClellan said documented the president had served in Alabama as required.

The White House obtained the dental record, along with other medical records it did not release, from the Air Reserve Personnel Centre in Denver.

a kid at school who's Dad was a State Senator. But then the kid was actually there. Maybe that helps.

I also remember nearly all the real party hounds, but could not claim 100% on that. But then, the national media hasn't come forward to jog my memory on the issue.

Give me a break. They are their own worst enemies, and thank god for that. They have really never had to deal with something like this have they?

The press actually are not accepting their lies as they usually do. I expect this to die down sometime next week, on schedule, just as they have for his entire "presidency."

I got so worked up about his foreknowledge about 9/11, Harken, Niger, Plame and all the other stuff that I just can't belive that something this petty compared to those would stick.

I guess there is evidence (and lack thereof) in this scandal, it touches on his truthfulness and his "macho" image and best of all shows him unfit to be a leader. Elections are coming up and people are sick of being pushed around and are sick of his administration.

Maybe I should get excited.

I would love it if it would come out that he is afraid of riding a horse. That would just be icing on the cake. The 'fraidy' cowboy!

'Bush and I were lieutenants'

George Bush and I were lieutenants and pilots in the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), Texas Air National Guard (ANG) from 1970 to 1971. We had the same flight and squadron commanders (Maj. William Harris and Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, both now deceased). While we were not part of the same social circle outside the base, we were in the same fraternity of fighter pilots, and proudly wore the same squadron patch.
It is quite frustrating to hear the daily cacophony from the left and Sen. John Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat, et al., about Lt. Bush escaping his military responsibilities by hiding in the Texas ANG. In the Air Guard during the Vietnam War, you were always subject to call-up, as many Air National Guardsmen are finding out today. If the 111th FIS and Lt. Bush did not go to Vietnam, blame President Johnson and Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara, not lowly Lt. Bush. They deliberately avoided use of the Guard and Reserves for domestic political calculations, knowing that a draftee only stirred up the concerns of one family, while a call-up got a whole community's attention.

And slightly before that he was Ambassador to the UN--also via Nixon (sort of a slight to the UN, which is today SOP for these scumbags). MEMPHIS – Two members of the Air National Guard unit that President George W. Bush allegedly served with as a young Guard flyer in 1972 had been told to expect him and were on the lookout for him. He never showed, however; of that both Bob Mintz and Paul Bishop are certain.The question of Bush’s presence in 1972 at Dannelly Air National Guard base in Montgomery, Alabama – or the lack of it – has become an issue in the 2004 presidential campaign.Recalls Memphian Mintz, now 62: “I remember that I heard someone was coming to drill with us from Texas. And it was implied that it was somebody with political influence. I was a young bachelor then. I was looking for somebody to prowl around with.” But, says Mintz, that “somebody” -- better known to the world now as the president of the United States -- never showed up at Dannelly in 1972. Nor in 1973, nor at any time that Mintz, a FedEx pilot now and an Eastern Airlines pilot then, when he was a reserve first lieutenant at Dannelly, can remember. “And I was looking for him,” repeated Mintz, who said that he assumed that Bush “changed his mind and went somewhere else” to do his substitute drill. It was not “somewhere else,” however, but the 187th Air National Guard Tactical squadron at Dannelly to which the young Texas flyer had requested transfer from his regular Texas unit – the reason being Bush’s wish to work in Alabama on the ultimately unsuccessful U.S. Senate campaign of family friend Winton "Red" Blount.
