Bush says he shares blame for negative tone
Source: Anchorage Daily News

WASHINGTON - George W. Bush says that he is partly at fault for the bitter tone of discussion in the political world.

"The tone hasn't been good in Washington, and I've been disappointed in that, and I bear some of the blame for that," Bush said in a television interview.

As a candidate running for the White House in 2000, Bush promised to be a "uniter, not a divider." He also said he believed he could "change the tone in Washington" and "move beyond the bitterness and the partisanship."

But what many saw as his my-way-or-the-highway approach to diplomacy and policy won him criticism for contributing to a more divisive public debate over issues.

11. I believe that - he is a petty, vindictive, little man.
"...But, said Bush, "the rhetoric got very tough. I mean, this is a - some people here in this town use the politics of personal destruction to advance their agenda. I don't want to sound self-serving, but I haven't, and I don't think a president should."..."

Lies just tumble out of his mouth and land w/ a big splat - very similar to the mess sea gulls leave.

8. He shares it with Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, Coulter and the rest of the screaming shitheads.
Prior to Clinton, we used to have civilized debates in this country. But you can't have debates when one person debates and the other person doesn't nothing but call the first one an un-American, commie, traitor. You can't expect Democrats to treat Bush civilly when the screamers spent 8 years calling Clinton a child-molester, traitor, murderer, and thief.

We are not going to change the tone in America until the screaming class changes their tone, and that won't happen because screaming generates ratings, and ratings mean money, and as long as media profits trump the good of America, we will never have a civil tone in Washington.

14. I watched a documentry on Lee Attwater he was the guy that
Edited on Sat Dec-20-08 03:10 AM by MadMaddie
got Senior * elected, that is when the politics got really dirty and nasty. Lee Atwater only cared about winning at all costs and if he had to destroy a man to do it he would, he destroyed Dukakis with his racist ads.

The current * just allowed the same nasty politics cause he learned first hand. By the way he was always in the background bumbling, tripping and not sure of what to do next in this documentry.

If you get a chance you should see it.....Lee Atwater died of a terminal illness......not much more to say about it.
