"Drill, baby, drill' process has begun
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Remember "drill, baby drill"? In its last weeks in office, the Bush administration is starting to make it happen by quietly starting the process of exploration and drilling off the coast of Virginia.

The move means that President-elect Barack Obama and brand new interior secretary nominee Ken Salazar -- a Democratic senator from Colorado -- will have to jump feet-first into the decades-old debate over offshore oil drilling. It's an issue where the two disagreed at one point.

Wait. Virginia?

The state is ground zero for the drilling debate because of possible reserves off the coast and what energy experts see as a friendlier government than elsewhere.

The U.S. Interior Department has completed the first step, closing a public comment period on the proposal to lease 2.9 million acres of ocean to natural gas and oil companies. The pie-shaped area begins 50 miles off Virginia's coast, straight out from Virginia Beach on the south and across from Virginia's boundary on the Delmarva peninsula to the north.

2. but the oil pushers are giving it away at $38 bbl. We should lapse into the false sense of
dependence security as Detroit's gas guzzler builders get rewarded and stand by for the bail out....so the cycle of rewarding ignorance and failure can continue

3. Ken Salazar is owned by Halliburton....
.... and he has turned a blind eye to the poisoning of water supplies for thousands of rural Coloradans.

He's another Joe Lieberman, wearing a cowboy hat.

Weren't we supposed to be kicking the cowboys out of DC?

6. Shhhhhhhhhhh...
We're supposed to be supportive of Democrats, remember? Even when they're sleazy Republicrats owned by Halliburton.

And Bubba of Arabia is getting the camel groomed and ready for the next caravan through the Persian Gulf along with his Secretary of State. Complete with the little sign on the side of the camel. "Two for One Sale."

The only real Democrats, and Republicans, in this country are the fools who go to the polls believing there are Democrats and Republicans on the ballot.

drill and explore now since the price of oil dropped then it did when they were spewing this bullshit months ago.

oil has to be at least 80 bucks for the tar or oil sands to break even. it takes colossal amounts of energy and money to get a single barrel of oil from any arctic region. the saudis need oil to be above 40 to keep their nations budget balanced. deep water drilling takes floating drilling rigs to explore, they are currently backlogged on demand for at least 6 to 8 months. so now he's going for NG in Utah and Wy. just because they drill doesn't mean they will find enough to make it worth while.

this is nothing more than putting a thumb in the eye of the environmentalists and ruining our national parks.

like the old saying goes, "nothin worse than someone who pisses in your milk bucket before they leave your house".
