TFRs: Cheney out; bigger Biden in
Source: Flight Global

Lockheed Martin flight service personnel confirmed that a no-fly zone centred on former Vice President Dick Cheney's weekend home in St. Michael's, Maryland expired last night, and was replaced today by a slightly larger temporary no-fly zone around Vice President Joe Biden's home in Wilmington, Delaware.

Cheney's protection zone, established in November 2005, excluded aircraft from flying at 1,500ft and below in a 1nm-radius cylinder of airspace around his weekend retreat.

For Biden, the US Federal Aviation Administration has set up a 1.5nm-radius temporary flight restriction (TFR) zone, also with a 1,500ft cap, which starts today and expires on 27 January. No word on whether Biden's TFR will become permanent.

A dumb rule which should be allowed to expire permanently. Cheney was nuts.

8. A jet going 550 MPH will travel 1.5 nautical miles in 11.2 seconds. Who's going to stop it?
Honestly.

9. Donald Rumsfeld is Cheney's
neighbor in St.Michaels. I've sailed there a few times & never really liked the place, even though it's supposed to be sailor heaven. Go figure, I felt no energy from the locals~

12. That's why these things are rather silly.
It's easy to inadvertently fly into a tfr and get into all kinds of trouble but if you actually have some kind of malicious intent there is no way anybody can stop you in time.

Plus it gives you the exact location of the thing they are trying to protect conveniently supplied on the evil-doers gps database.

 oh well

14. Imperial fighters? The power of the Dark Side?
Or did Cheney simply plan to breathe fire at any intrusive aircraft?
