Senate GOP: Don't seat Franken
Source: Politico

The entire Senate Republican conference today signed a letter, sent to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, reiterating their opposition to any Democratic attempt to seat Al Franken before the Minnesota Senate trial is complete.

Out of the blue the GOP is making demands on Dems ordering them not to seat Franken.

It could be the GOP is upset that this happened yesterday:

It was a veritable “fire sale” outside Norm Coleman’s former senatorial office in Washington’s Hart Building yesterday, Politico reports. Oodles of office supplies were there for the taking, prompting apparent excitement among stapler-deprived aides. “We just received a bipartisan gift of 3 3-hole punches from staffers cleaning out Sen. Coleman’s office,” wrote one staffer to Politico. “They are throwing away perfectly good office supplies – looks like they may be on a time deadline of clearing stuff out.”

8. Considering gthe wonderful spirit of bipartisanship the Repubics have been showing lately,
I think their request or demand or whatever the hell this is should be treated with all the respect it deserves. Which is to say, it and they ought to be taken out to an old-fashioned outhouse and dropped through the hole.

Which is why the letter from the GOP is so out of the blue.

27. With Franken, the Democrat's would control 59 seats, FUCK the republicans & their measly 41 seats!
Edited on Thu Jan-29-09 05:41 PM by LaPera
What's wrong with the Reid and the Dems giving into senate republicans demands....

When the republicans controlled the houses they didn't give a shit what the Dems asked or demanded and purposely treated the Dems like shit every single chance the republican got.

The republicans thought they'd be in power forever.

FUCK THE 41 REPUBLICAN SENATORS!!

28. This could all be about a potential filibuster of the stimulus
with 59 votes, plus Maine's senator Olympia Snowe, who has already said she was voting for the stimulus, any potential for a filibuster would be completely off the table. Just a thought.

35. Oh, well, it's only our taxpayer dollars being wasted (thanks, Norm!)
I know how concerned Norm was with our money being wasted with a recount (this was before the recount, after Norm graciously announced that he'd won the election).

So nice to see how our money - apparently spent on a 5 year supply of HP printer toner - is irrelevant. (See MN Independent photo for a nice shot of office supplies up for grabs.)

I detest that man.

(By the way, I'd be happy to take some of that "free" toner...gee, are there any Swingline staplers available?)
