GOP official wants to reclaim her post

The chairman of the Republican Party of Florida said a party leader can't take back her resignation over a controversial e-mail.
BY BETH REINHARD
breinhard@MiamiHerald.com

A longtime Republican leader in Hillsborough County is trying to get her party post back, nearly one week after she resigned over a racially charged e-mail referring to President Barack Obama's inauguration and Hurricane Katrina.

Carol Carter asked the state party chairman, Jim Greer, on Wednesday to rescind the resignation she submitted last Thursday. She said she apologized and suggested that all executive committee members, including herself, attend sensitivity training.

''I had numerous phone calls from people around the state who encouraged me not to make my resignation official because they thought my service was valuable,'' Carter said. ``I'm not happy about what I did.''

~snip~
The e-mail Carter forwarded on her personal account to a few friends read: ``I'm confused. How can 2,000,000 blacks get into Washington, DC in 1 day in sub zero temps when 200,000 couldn't get out of New Orleans in 85 degree temps with four days notice?''

3. This may be the tip of the iceberg for Southern *repubs*...
I observed that for years, the Fl, Ga, and SC GOP was often the local home for closet racists. I suspect the same is true in many other states. In the late 70's, I even saw gwb campaigning for his father at a "Young Republican's" meeting in Greenwood, SC that was a not-so-subtle all white group. It will be interesting to see if there is a drop in repub registrations over the new chairman; especially in the deep south. Remember mother Bush's comment after Katrina? You have to wonder what is said over the dinner table.

I don't know a Republican that is not a racist. And I know many Republicans. It is their nature.

6. Republicans have a lot of trouble with resigning.
Remember sex pervert and Republican Senator Larry Craig? He made a self-serving speech saying he would resign his office in disgrace. As far as I know he's still there, and still in disgrace.

Can the Limbaugh-Palin Party get any more pathetic? You betcha!

8. She DIDN'T apologise!
Here's what she emailed after she was asked to apologise:

I have been asked to send this apology for my earlier e-mail. I am sorry that it was received in a negative manner. I do hope that we are going to be allowed to keep our sense of humor.

As you can now see, it went to very few people. I did add Todd Marks in this apology, as he is in the mix now. I am also sorry to learn that some of these persons are not real team players. There really was no reason for this to go beyond those that I e-mailed (8 people). This was not an e-mail blast as I do not have that capability.

Even by the standards of repub notpologies, this is unapologetic whining, and digs the hole deeper by maligning anyone who complained. Does it sound to you like someone who deserves their job back?

Here's a picture of some team players:

You know what's not being a team player? Fostering a hate-filled work environment, and then jumping on anyone who says that this isn't acceptable.

28. Correct. "Sorry if it was received in a negative manner" is not an apology. Even if it were, who
would believe she was sincere? You don't go from racist to non-racist in an apology. Especially one made only to get your job back.

12. "Nice"
:sarcasm:

Her non-apology clearly screams "I'm not at all sorry for being a racist hag. I freely and proudly admit that's what I am. Further, I'm putting the blame for this fiasco on people with a conscience who feel it's right to point out that someone in a position of responsibility and power, one who should know better, one who should act better, one who should be better than this, well, just isn't. I'm not, I don't care, and I don't care who knows it. And where's my waaaambulance?"

Hag. You have no power here. Begone before someone drops a house on you.

23. not USUALLY, anyway...
Deon Long, president of the Florida Federation of Black Republicans, said he and other members were not offended by the e-mail.

''It's like she got the death penalty for crossing the street, and I'm unequivocal in support of her,'' Long said. ``We can't be so overly sensitive that we can't make any reference to race.''

http://www.newser.com/section/12/gossip-news-headlines.html?gclid=cig-m_ra2zgcfqepggod7dcida

(Newser) – Prince Harry has been booted to sensitivity camp by his army higher-ups following back-to-back racial gaffes, People reports. Shortly after calling a fellow soldier a "Paki," the 24-year-old royal told a black comedian, "You don't sound like a black chap." The diversity lessons, slated to last several days, are the only disciplinary action the military plans to take.
