BofA's CEO Lewis subpoenaed by Cuomo
Source: Associated Press via Yahoo! News

Bank of America Corp. Chief Executive Ken Lewis has received a subpoena from the New York state attorney general's office in connection with Merrill Lynch's payment of employee bonuses before the companies combined on Jan. 1.

Former Merrill CEO John Thain, who was subpoenaed last month, also was questioned by investigators on Thursday about the bonuses that were paid in late December, just days before Bank of America completed its purchase of New York-based Merrill, according to a person familiar with the investigation. The person requested anonymity because of the ongoing nature of the matter.

Bank of America spokesman Robert Stickler on Friday declined to comment directly on the matter, adding "we do not comment on questions about subpoenas."

1. Nothing is going to stop these guys.
They are just going to do what they do - pay themselves huge amounts - and no one is going to stop them. What a bunch of crooks. They need to all be thrown out and prosecuted.

2. Of course not. Their entire lives are about money.
Moving it, marketing it, skimming it, and finding ways to gamble/invest with it. There is no way they are going to let that money out of their hands. They consider it theirs just by nature of their having been able to get a hold of it.

It doesn't matter that it was given to them for a specific purpose. Since when has that ever mattered before? They've been given billions of dollars of people's money for the specific purpose of investing wisely, and they've repeatedly ignored that purpose too.

When they have money, they do what the want with it, and that always means keeping it for themselves and putting a large portion of it in their own pockets.

Why the hell would anyone expect that to change now?

5. It's very profitable.
If you think money is what matters, and all the rest takes care of itself, then you probably don't think of your life as empty.

3. I hope Cuomo makes some progress. Man I wish Spitzer had kept his urges under control.
Honestly, I think he's the only one with the balls, arrogance, and toughness to actually break the backs of these robber barons.

7. So do I.
Hope Cuomo has no such 'problems,' 'cause I see anyone getting too close as subject to their takedowns.
