FRANK GRIFFITHS
Associated Press

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - A congressional delegation has visited the prison for terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay amid complaints of abuse by inmates.

The six representatives toured the U.S. Navy base in Cuba on Saturday, viewing interrogation rooms and discussing techniques for questioning, said Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, D-Maryland.

Two of 16 Afghan prisoners who were released a week ago said that they were beaten, kept restrained or placed in cold, overcrowded rooms. The U.S. military has denied mistreating inmates.

Ruppersberger, a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said military officials took him into interrogations rooms and explained what techniques they used. He said he was not present for any questioning and did not see any evidence of abuse.

1. Do you ever wonder why they never allow liberals
in intelligence committees? I remember when they did have John Conyor, and they were pissed when this liberal disclosed that a lot of the stuf they hush up using "national security" as the pretext was nothing more than waste and fraud!

I don't trust them, particularly when they go on a sanitized tour.

The bottom line, we are in violation of international law by holding those prisoners.

Hey, if you guys don't care about law, fine! Then the only law is the law of the jungle. I will merely point out that once a nation embarks on that path, there is only its own destruction at the end.

3. I'm wondering the robber barons in charge of the Republican Party
Edited on Mon Jul-28-03 01:39 AM by w4rma
aren't **trying** to destroy America. They are moving their buisnesses off shore, little by little. They are price gouging Americans out of our resources. They are trying to push more and more totalitarian laws. Their favorite media outlets are owned by a North Korean religious cult leader and an Australian media mongul.
