House to vote Thursday on bill to tax bonuses
Source: Associated Press

Rep. Charles Rangel says the House plans to take up a bill Thursday that would impose a 90 percent tax on bonuses paid to top-earning employees at AIG and other companies receiving big government bailouts.
The New York Democrat, who chairs the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, said Wednesday the tax would hit employees making more than $250,000 a year.
He said the $5 billion threshold for companies to be covered would exclude community banks and other smaller companies that have received bailout money.

5. Very slippery slope...
..for a very frenzied nation. Barack Obama is elected, so many people may be elated politically and completely unguarded. From a removed point of view, the national lunacy is far higher today than a year ago. Im worried--not about today, but about tomorrow. Where is this headed in the grand history of things?

9. how is it unconstitutional, what article/amendment does it violate?
the tax code is re-written with very specific loopholes for very specific campaign contributors all the time; this time, instead of a loophole, it's a noose...

2. A little late, but..... As Ron Reagan said on Air America
today, there's something really smelly about this whole thing. I don't think we know all of the facts yet, but I don't think we're going to like them either.

4. 190% would be" fair and balanced" ..............these sloths need to learn
that if you take job managing millions and billions of money, the FIRST THING you need to be is honest, and give back any salary over 100,000.....97% of Americans don't earn this ........why should people who are dishonest and unethical escape jail, other than by paying America back for their good fortune?

Hey, being broke is not like being in jail for the rest of your life. Just want all you assholes who made over $100,000 for being less than life-savers, less than police or fire or teachers, let's make sure you know how many people live on less than you make........and do our nation a favor for their service.

8. Just wait until Sarah Palin's elected and the Repubs have control of Congress.
All of us who voted for the other candidate will find our full earnings taxed.

This could set a very dangerous precedent.
