Jindal Defends those who want Obama to fail.
Edited on Wed Mar-25-09 09:25 AM by Somawas
Source: CNN

It's OK for Republicans to want President Obama to fail if they think he's jeopardizing the country, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal told members of his political party Tuesday night.

Gov. Bobby Jindal is offering a spirited defense of Republicans who say they want President Obama to fail.

Jindal described the premise of the question -- "Do you want the president to fail?" -- as the "latest gotcha game" being perpetrated by Democrats against Republicans.

"Make no mistake: Anything other than an immediate and compliant, 'Why no sir, I don't want the president to fail,' is treated as some sort of act of treason, civil disobedience or political obstructionism," Jindal said at a political fundraiser attended by 1,200 people. "This is political correctness run amok."

Since conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh said that he hoped that Obama would fail, Republicans have been pressed by Democrats and the media about Limbaugh's comments.

Jindal, a potential 2012 presidential candidate, told the Republican audience he would "not be brow beaten on this, and I will not kowtow to their correctness."

"My answer to the question is very simple: 'Do you want the president to fail?' It depends on what he is trying to do."

10. Here, here
I totally agree - after all LA went through with Katrina and the Repug/FEMA abandonments - they drank the Koolaid and its working it's poison through their benefits, jobs and security. They did this to themselves. Poverty, ignorance plus a dose of Shock & Awe brings out the primitive. I despair for America.

3. I'm not worried about Jindal. He'll be accepted by the Pubs almost as well as
Steel was. I know what some of them are thinking now..."They have a black man so we have to get a person of color to run against him." Of course they're missing the obvious. Obama's greatest attractions are NOT that he's a member of a minority group! They're his intelligence, calm steady nature, ability & willingness to THINK FIRST before taking action, and of course his charm. NONE of which Jindal has!

BTW I heard this last night on TV.

Definition of "Charm"= Charm is the ability to get the yes answer BEFORE the question is even asked!

to suffer the indignities of having a complete fool as a governor. The only thing I can fathom is that the majority of Louisiana thinks like he does, therefore, he shoots his mouth off with such ridiculousness they'll keep voting him in.

24. oh brother
Well tells us Governor Jindal..what do you think the POTUS is trying to do? Clean up your party's mess maybe? If that's possible. Gotcha game? I don't think so given the fact that Limbaugh did say those words and no one yet has come out against him and those who did quickly apologized. It is civil obstruction to continually holler fire and refuse to get a hose. But I'll tell you what political correctness run amok us and that's your party still trying to link Iraq with September 11 and Saddam Hussein with Al Qaeda after we have had a report showing it to be a lie.

28. We have Obama and Hillary, they fight back with Jindal
and Palin. It's absurd. Jindal is no way has the intellect or leadership of Obama. His only advantage to the GOP is that he is not yet another white guy. That's it. And Palin as the counterpoint to Hillary? The nation is still laughing at that decision, a very costly one for McCain. This is the essence of the GOP cluelessness. Obama in the White House? OK, we'll appoint Michael Steele head of the RNC. Nevermind that Steele couldn't get elected to the student council. The country loves Obama? We'll position Jindal as a frontrunner. Nevermind his first big public introduction ended in total humliation. (by the way, did Jindal notice the volcano activity in Alaska yesterday? Yes, there is a reason volcanos are monitored, you sad, sad little man.) And then there's "our female candidate!" Sarah Palin. JUST like YOUR Hillary Clinton. Except, that she's not. Not even close. You have a small town mayor who leapfrogged into the governor's office and then onto the national stage. She knows little to nothing about national or international issues. And we're supposed to consider her an equal to Senator Clinton? Sorry, make that Sec. of State Hillary Clinton?
The GOP needs to get over their obsession with dumbness. It's not macho. It's not "more authentic". It's silliness our country can't afford.

Then the American people will be able to see them for what they really are: selfish politicians who would like to see the average voter suffer in order that they ascend to power.

They switched instead to some ruthless show where obese people are forced to work out until they die, or something.

President Obama again ran his conference with clockwork precision, winding up only a couple of minutes before the hour and allowing the talking heads only enough time to repeat a few things he said. No room for Bobby.

I think that in basketball, that's called "boxing out."

Edit: On looking it over, I guess Bobby's remarks were not officially aired after the President's conference, anywhere.
