Legislators refuse Palin's demand for public vote

APPOINTEE: Dispute over picks may take the courts to resolve.

JUNEAU -- Alaska lawmakers have no intention of agreeing to Gov. Sarah Palin's demand for all senators to vote in public on her appointment of Tim Grussendorf to the state Senate. That's set up a showdown with no clear resolution, and talk of a potential court battle between the Legislature and the governor.

Palin said Thursday she did not accept the decision by the state Senate Democrats to reject her appointment of Grussendorf to fill the seat that opened when Juneau Democratic Sen. Kim Elton resigned for an Obama administration job.

The governor, citing a 1987 legal opinion, said the decision wasn't valid because it happened behind closed doors and only among the Senate Democrats. She sent a letter to Stevens, a Kodiak Republican, asking for a public vote of the full Senate, which is composed of 10 Republicans and nine Democrats.

Republican Senate President Stevens said he doesn't want to vote on the governor's appointee to a Democratic seat, out of fear that it would create a precedent that would come back to bite when a Republican seat needs to be filled.

Palin appointed this DINO, instead of accepting the nomination of House Minority Leader Beth Kerttula by the Juneau Democratic District Committee. Grussendorf was registered Republican until it was rumored that Elton was being vetted for job in the Obama Dept. of the Interior. He's the pet candidate of Alaska Federation of Republican Women chair Paulette Simpson, the woman that introduced Bill Kristol to the Governess, setting her on the road to the VP nomination. His opinions on many issues agrees with the Governess, but they conflict with the opinions of a majority of Juneau residents, who have been electing Democrats to the State Senate for the past 3 decades.

Sarah is busy pissing off Alaskan legislators in both parties, by refusing to meet with them to discuss acceptance of stimulus funds, and by attempting to exercise some legislative powers. The Governess really wants to be a Queen.

Nor was the Republican replacement in the legislature she approved last year.

This is blowing up in Palin's face big time.

and the guy sho SHE wants to be seated literally just "discovered" a few weeks or a month ago that he was registered as a REPUKE! Is Palin going to rewrite the seating requirements????

7. The full-year requirement is a party requirement

The Juneau Democratic District Committee used the full-year requirement as one of their criteria in reviewing applicants for nomination, but it is not a statutory requirement.

The Governess, however, wants to be Queen. And she's been egged on by Paulette Simpson, the Dragon Lady of Alaska Repugnican politics, who wants to create division among Democrats in Senate District B.
