Group pushes Roy Moore for U.S. high court
Edited on Mon Jul-28-03 03:38 PM by Kanzeon
From here...

If Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore doesn't serve out his full six-year term -- as he recently hinted might be the case -- a conservative advocacy group is already mapping out his next career move: the U.S. Supreme Court

In an advertising and direct-mail campaign, the Virginia-based Conservative Caucus has mounted a petition drive to encourage President Bush to nominate Moore to fill the next available vacancy on the nation's highest court.

Well, that'd be damned funny if it weren't so typical.

1. He'd be rejected
In fact, the Democrats would have enough votes to reject him outright. A fillibuster would not be necessary. This is one nominee who I would hope the Democrats allow to face a Senate vote.

2. Someone who has total disdain for rule of law if it disagrees with him
All I can say is How Typical. Rule of law is meaningless if it disagrees with their viewpoint. He blatantly disregarded a superior court ruling and as far as I know is still in contempt. At least I hold him in contempt.

3. Why am I not surprised?
some guy gets national attention for defending having the ten commandments (you know...religious writings) in a government court (you know....FEDERAL building) despite the "seperation" of church and state that is supposed to be relevant these days...and he's being pushed for the supreme court. (sarcastic) Yay, just what we need...more fundies in the court...

5. That would be insane.
Roy Moore is an outright Nazi, no better. Worse than George Wallace on his worst day.

6. I don't think even * would nominate Moore...
but I'm being idiotically optimistic.

Hopefully the vote on Moore would make Bork's 41 votes look huge.

7. Moore came to my area when the county commission was trying to
display the Commandments in the courthouse and I'm sure that he would have support from this part of TN. He was a big hero.

8. How I'd love to see that nomination
There's something that would wake up the public and bring the nuttiness of the right-wing fundies out into the open. Yes, it's out in the open already for those who are paying attention, but a large part of the public still seems to be snoozing.
